Peter Beckett, the lead singer, came to America from England to try to make it big in the biz. His wife eventually got homesick, gave up on him, went home, & divorced him. He wrote this song about it, & became a star. Hope she was sorry! So many good-looking men in one band. My, oh, my! 🎸 🎹 🥁

After having taking BABY COME BACK for granted lo these many years, I now seriously believe this is one of the best modern pop songs ever written and performed. From the lyrics to the melody and how every instrument and vocal harmony is on point and supercool. It's laid back and smooth but at the same time it has a harder edge than most R&B tunes. Simply brilliant.

If you grew up in the 70's into the 80's this is a very powerful and nostalgic song that conjurs up memories of lost love. Many young (and old) 'broken-hearts' jammed this one hard back in the day and it still reminds me of a few 'that got away' every time I hear it. For those of us that lived it, it can really bring back a major case of 'the feels'. 35 years later and I still love and miss you Gabrielle ❤. Brad, you might have heard this in a commercial or movie. Peace and keep rockin' guys..✌️🤘😎

Songs like this remind me of a time in which someone would buy a vinyl album and everyone in the neighborhood would come listen to it. Sittin' around, hardly talking, listening to the songs, but reacting/discussing each song between tracks. Sometimes, if we played the songs enough to know them, we'd "band sync" while we listened. Great for rainy days!!!

This song is unique in that you can hear a mix of 60s and 70s sound in it, and yet you could hear it start to gravitate towards the soon to be early 80s sound. This is how music evolves from one decade to the next. This is still a great song for any time period.

It was just rock as a kid, and then soft rock, rock, or hard rock as a teen. And metal was almost a sub-genre of hard rock rather than just it’s own thing, like borderline.

Great song to me. Loved it back then still do Mark of a timeless song. I remember one other song by them, nothing like this. Great voice on lead hope he was successful in his career after this band disbanded.

Yeah this one is a good memory for me. My high school girlfriend at the time working at a an apparel manufacturer Devil Dog MFG. It was pretty early in the courtship and I vividly remember breaking up with her just so me in my 79 Monte Carlo with awesome Kracker 6x9 rear speakers sitting in the Devil Dog parking lot could play this one on repeat turned way up loud. She went on to be my wife of 34 years now. She's fighting stage 4 breast and colon cancer now since November 2019 like a badass. Love her so much, turn it up!!

I'm not kidding when I tell you that this song was playing through my mind for a few minutes, then I clicked on my youtube home page and saw this video in my subscriptions feed.

I've had that happen, where you hear a song and it morphs into another song in your head. I think it's just brain wiring. Like we all have a DJ in our head and they just decide to go freestyle.

This song came out my first semester of college. The dance floor filled up every time it came on because everybody related to it. Great times!

This is one of those songs that IS the 1970s music. Kinda power ballad / love song /rock but soft rock and a little soul all rolled in one. Player. Very cool band. Hall and Oates are the masters of that Blue Eyed Soul sound. Yoy two should do Hall and Oates
