Miss the live voice of Bud Lynch. Great player introduction video and Steve Yzerman deserved that ovation. The 1997 Stanley Cup winning team was a great team.

Been looking for this for a long time! Right after Budd Lynch finishes saying "Doug Brown!" the crowd picks up, and one guy goes "YEEEAAHHH!"

Also it's hard to believe Philly didn't win a game. They were so good that year. Great hard playoff tested guys on every line. Hextall was the weak link.

Thanks for this. DO you have videos of the Game 1 player introductions?

Whenever anyone on WDFN mentioned Aaron Ward, they would play the line from Rocky IV: ”Whatever he hits...he destroys!” 🤣🤣
@mangrove3 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: the U.S.S. Aaron Ward was a naval destroyer in WWII. Ward had a solid run in these playoffs, but could never escape Scotty's doghouse in subsequent seasons.

If I'm not mistaken, didnt Yzerman get a huge opening night cheer from the fans when it was rumored he was going to Ottawa? I cant find the video anywhere but I remember that after that I knew he wasnt going anywhere.
@awood403 жыл бұрын
I don't have video of it right now, but it was at the home opener for the 95-96 season.

@@awood40 How is this not on youtube? When I think back on watching it I know its not going to feel like it did back. Living in the drama at the time. Honestly, I had to fight back tears. The fans showed up with signs\banners and loudly protested to let the front office know what they thought about a potential trade. Steve Yzerman became a hockey god that night.

Scotty was booed lustily that same night. Class move by Stevie to get the fans cheering at the championship rally the following year.

Hate the way they do the intros now. The "starting lineups." This ain't basketball. Introduce the players so the fans know every player they have to hate for the Super Bowl of hockey. What to save time? You squeeze another commercial break out of it. The league is poorly run...
