I don't think I am controversial in thinking anything 20th Century as retro in gaming (with a wee bit of wriggle room), but am willing to court controversy in how upset I get when people judge it as later than this. When people suggest something from 2014 is retro, I will not be held responsible
@williamherbert29018 ай бұрын
There are certain games from around 2000 that I would classify as retro, but they’re all PC games. Games like Heroes of Might and Magic, Red Alert, StarCraft and so on. Console games from that era I can’t wrap my head around being retro. Halo CE will always be modern to me
@SharienGaming8 ай бұрын
whaaaaaaat that isnt retro! shut up, im not that old! .... *looks at calendar* damn i might be that old... well i deny any oldness anyway XD but yeah its usually a bit of a sliding window... retro is often perceived as the stuff you grew up with or if you are relatively young still, the stuff your parents keep telling you about
@AliceWallace28 ай бұрын
I reckon platform has something to do with it. Like, I grew up with the original Xbox but I wouldn’t consider Tony Hawk’s Underground retro, for example. But the Gameboy, which I also grew up with, I would. Even though the main game I played on that was Pokémon Emerald.

Going by console generations, 2014 is "last gen", so not retro yet in my book. I consider anything two console generations or more old as retro, though.

I think it could be fun to see a minion character whose power is to interact with some things the Storyteller can announce, with no actual impact on the game itself. For example, the Storyteller tells a player they are Cerenovus mad when they really are not and there is no actual consequence in breaking madness. Or that there is a widow in play, etc etc...Could spread some lovely misinformation

Minion: The Hypochondriac: Each night chose a player, if the player is good, they believe they are mad about something, but they are not. If you choose an evil player, there is a fearmonger or leviathan announcement instead.

im about 43.22 in. just want to confirm, cant the village idiot replace town or outsiders? with 3 idiots in seems perfectly reasonable that the ST could have one replace an outsider, canceling out the balloonist +1
@kiwiSid8 ай бұрын
Village idiot is a townsfolk, and is a character token that is thrown in during the set up. A Village idiot could be the actual Drunk, or the Marionette, as those are chosen after tokens are distributed, but could not replace an outsider on this script where all outsiders are face tokens which are sent out
@tehesprite5028 ай бұрын
Currently not, though IMO Village Idiot should be changed into an Outsider itself based on the same logic that the Puzzlemaster is considered an Outsider- which would force it to take an Outsider slot.

Just more confirmation to me that the amnesiac interaction with poison/drunkenness is degenerate. All it takes is a single night of poisoning to completely sideline the character. There really needs to be some kind of exception for amnesiac, or story tellers need to limit how badly they lie about if the amnesiac's guess is close to correct. I mean think about it, in this scenario if poisoned Jojo gets incorrect info from their pick in the night, then goes to the story teller and nails their ability and gets a bingo, the ST could say "You nailed it" to the poisoned Amnesiac and now they're operating with false information from their first pick. Or even better, Jojo's guess should have been warm because they were missing a small detail, but the ST lies and says they nailed it. Now the amnesiac has some useful info, but there's a taint of misinformation because they will never realize there's a slight glitch. That sounds really fun. Instead, the amnesiac is sent way off course, their misinformation never even has value because there's nothing to frame it on, and the player just doesn't get to use their ability the whole game. Those first two scenarios sound way more fun for everyone involved IMO.
@Chlios11874 ай бұрын
Another way to frame it: Every other character playing the game already knows their ability, and that can't be changed by poisoning. They can only be affected by poisoning in 1 way, and that is the execution of their ability. The amnesiac is doubly vulnerable to poisoning, as it can inhibit the execution of their ability, AND it can prevent them from finding out what their ability is in the first place. I think STs need to do a better job of letting poisoning only affect one of those vulnerabilities at a time, rather than just shafting the amnesiac entirely. And you might say, yeah it's fine that they're extra vulnerable because they usually have more power than the average ability, but they've already paid for that power by having to guess it. If you want to keep it fair, you should give an amnesiac that's being set up in a game with poisoning an uber powerful ability to match their increased risk of never finding out what it does.

If 2 outsiders die in one day, does the GF get 2 kills?
@kiwiSid8 ай бұрын
No, the Godfather still gets only 1 kill.
@DasGanon8 ай бұрын
It should probably be reworded a tiny bit to be "if any outsiders die during the day, choose 1 player. They die." Just to remove the "2 outsiders died, therefore 2 kills!" thought.
@SharienGaming8 ай бұрын
@@DasGanon yeah that would make sense - mind you, the current wording could also suggest that if 2 outsiders die during the day, the ability doesnt fire (which obviously isnt intended), because 2 is not 1^^
