Great tips from one of the best defensive lineman of all time. Unfortunately, I'm a jets fan and we saw Mr. McGinest 2x a year wreaking havoc in the jets backfill. As a defensive end myself I've always appreciated this man's talent. I got my son involved in football as a defensive end this upcoming spring, and who better to watch the training videos from other than Mr. Willie McGinest. Thank you Mr. McGinest for your fine play and your instructional videos!

Young guys, especially kids about to be freshman in high school who wanna play football. That stuff he said about not windmilling that swim move is spot on and great advice i wish someone had told me. If you make a big exaggerated windmill like that the o lineman is going to feed you your ribcage. I abandoned that move altogether, but if we had all these videos on the internet back then id have practiced it differently. Until you get it tho, stick to push/pull hands inside, or get low and rip through. If they are holding you too much slap and rip. Starts with the stance tho. It all comes from there, gotta get that down.

How’d it go? The great thing about football is you can start playing in 8th or 9th grade and can still get good. It certainly helps if you start younger but it’s not a necessity. In sports like hockey it is very very tough to pick up in 9th grade if you haven’t already learned to be an excellent skater. I’m interested to know how your 1st year of football is going?

At the end he talks about 3-point stance and getting off. His right hand is down and right foot is back. When he steps off the right foot comes forward. In the Slap rip and slap swim demonstration when he gets off, he steps with the left foot first even when the right leg is back. Is that correct way for the slap/rip and slap/swim? I ask because he comes off differently than what he shows at the end.
@3pointstance484
@3pointstance484 2 ай бұрын
When he demonstrated the slap rip and the slap swim his base with his feet was a bit tighter together, and he took more of a lateral step to get to the target, since it is a pass rush move to get outside. I think most DEs would be more comfortable just switching the foot and arm to their left side for that drill. It’s really more preference though.
