God everyone commenting that the piano is out of tune get a life. It has a beautiful old Saloon feel to it. Played fantastic!
@physicist8816 жыл бұрын
I think having an older piano like the one you have makes the piece have a more authentic quality; it gives it that old ragtime sound. Good job!

Really enjoyed your rendition. It felt like I was in a saloon drinking a whiskey.

this is the exact speed with which ragtime needs to be played. Not too slow and not ridiculously fast like some others do. Wonderful

I was in a restaurant and I asked the lady playing the piano to play this. she was Ok, and some 25 yr old made a crack that "it sounded like Charlie Chaplin was gonna walk in". This made me feel that YOUNG PEOPLE are DOPES and can't appreciate anything other than their own current pop music crap. Well, you sir are a young person who is GREAT in piano and "GET" Scott Joplin. You have the syncopation down, ever during the low to high note flourish. Tremendous talent. There is hope for all of us!

i didn't go through 360 comments to check if anyone had mentioned it yet, but the two times you slow down are amazing. i have never heard that before, but it fits perfectly. kudos.
@feedoggie12 жыл бұрын
Great technique! Smooth and flowing without any "pounding," playing a song that almost requires "choppiness." You've got superior touch, and played the entire piece without nary a misplaced finger!
@rupepill16 жыл бұрын
Really enjoyable to hear and foot tap to your great, bouncy version. I couldn't understand why so many Canadian musicians chose to play this catchy tune until finally the flag caught my attention. Scott Joplin deserves to be posthumously given Canadian nationality and appointed as The National Composer for this most joyful of rags.

Nice one! I wanted to see someone playing this piece and picked yours because you just looked like you knew what you were doing. The piano itself is perfect as well.

Absolutely excellent! I never get tired of watching this video. This is my favorite Scott Joplin song and this is the best version I've seen on You Tube. I'd love to be able to just sit down at a piano and crank this out like this. AAA+++!!!

Evanissimo - you have inspired me to learn the piano - this is truly beautiful. I have just watched/listened to it 10 times consecutively and it has brought tears to my eyes. I can't play a single note and don't know where to start learning, but somehow I will. My goal is that in 5 years time I will be posting my version up here. I only hope it does some kind of justice to your magnificent rendition. Thanks so much for sharing this...it is truly inspirational. Right...now to find a piano teacher

Wow! That's amazing! I've seen a lot of people on KZbin play this song, but I specifically like the way you play it. I'm not sure why, but I think you play it very well. I don't mean to sound weird or anything, but you have such angelic hands...they just glide over the keys.

@ybastiand14 жыл бұрын
That's the perfect piano for playing a rag, it sounds just like if it came straight from the 19th century ;-). Nice interpretation very clear and articulated sound. I love the slowing rythm surprises you make at 1:25 and 1:48. How about a little more of such surprises, for instance using power variations? ...although I have no idea whether Mr Joplin would be happy with using power variations. I am from France, w/ amateur piano degree from Lyon music school. I played this piece in bars.
@cebukid7014 жыл бұрын

I believe your fingers will get more and more endurance the more you play! I have a keyboard myself and never require alot of strenght when I play. However, when I, once every two weeks or so, decide to play on our regular piano, I get tired fast. I only tried Maple leaf there once, and definately couldn't handle it without alot more training.

me either! I just played a piano competition and after 7 or 8 years playing piano, I can't play it perfectly either! I find the B section endings (1st and 2nd ending, but more 2nd ending) to be difficult. When I first started playing this piece, I thought the coordination between the two hands was really hard and really took a lot of practice!
@papboer1615 жыл бұрын
