For the shrines, you cannot know how many chests there are, but you can see whenever you took EVERY chests: Open the map, and go on a shrine symbol, if you see a little chest icon beside the Name of the Shrine, it means you took everything in the chests from that shrine. If that icon is not visible, then you missed a chest (or several) or you didn't pick an item from one of the chests. I (and those who will watch your let's play) can tell you some tricks if you ask to. I've played The Legend of Zelda: BoTW for the last few years and I have advice on some things. I hope I'll be able to help you through your game-play... even though sometimes it's fun to resolve things by yourself By the way, sorry for the repetitions and/or eventual grammar errors, English is not my first language

Ayy nice to see you started the game!! It's take time to get used to the controls cause there's a lot of different commands xD I think Breath of the Wild is the best example of a game with total player freedom, you have your objective but you can do it in any order, if you want to go straight to the volcano you can, thought you might die in the way haha The best tip I have is to grab anything that's shiny, try the runes in everything and just enjoy the game!!!

I'm pretty sure you can actually use motion controls for aiming the bow in a more precise way, while right stick is for more drastic movement, like if the enemy is behind you.

It’s never late to see first time reactions specifically in this game, there are SO many ways to solve the paths to the shrines, specially mountain one, that almost every streamer takes a different route. First time videos are not about watching the game but watching reactions :)

The monks at the end of shrines are most likely modeled after Sokushinbutsu they are monks who train their whole life to become mummies after they complete their training they are put into a box and buried alive they mediate in said box until they die a bell put onto them that rings until they die after a while(forgot how long) they are dug up and if their body are mummified then they succeeded

The monks in the shrines are based on Sokushinbutsu, an order of Buddhist monks who mummified themselves alive. The mummies were believed to have not truly died, but to be in the ultimate state of meditation and capable of answering the prayers of believers.
