This channel has introduced me to the concept of trying to play a pinball machine strategically. I always just tried not to miss the ball and watched random stuff happen. Then the ball would fall through between the flippers or one of those side gaps and I'd go play something else. Maybe I was too young.
@LyonsArcade5 жыл бұрын
Yup, that's the next level is actually trying to shoot for stuff, I'm not all that great at it but some of the games have really deep rules after you play awhile that you start picking up on!

Those pinball machines are awesome! The sounds, lights and that volume. It reminds me a stereo system my mom had in the 70's that was also an 8 track player. Machines these days, pinball or other are missing that. Maybe something in the decimals that's regulated or something. You did a great job with cleaning them both up. Not going to lie, I'm glad I found your channel.

For some reason I have spent over 2 hours trying to find anything I can about the back glass and where it was shot at or who was in it. Basically I am in the same place I was before I started. The only real clues are the Exit Chicago jackets which is/was a punk rock bar in Chicago located on Wells street. There is few to little photos of the interior of the place. So its very possible it was shot inside the bar but only someone who was there when it was on wells street could attest to it. The bar was shut down in early 90's and then reopened at a different location which is where it stands today. Of course its possible it was shot in a different bar other then Exit but kinda strange that they clearly wanted that name showcased because several people are wearing it.

Only info I can give you is that it's common knowledge that a lot of times the people in the Gottlieb photo backglasses like this one, were people who either worked for or were involved with the company, they usually didn't hire models... if you go find our "Rock" game for instance on here in the replies the guy who did the music or part of it says he was in the photo and identifies who he was. Another thing is some of the people who were involved with the games back then are online and easily accessible, so if you look up the designers etc. on ipdb.org you can probably contact them and ask them if they remember the photo shoot....

@@LyonsArcade constantino Mitchell was responsible for the artwork. I cannot find much on him except for the games he designed. Jon Norris was the programmer and I think he is more reachable but not sure. I might make a post on pinside seeing if anyone has any connections to this. The m1 seen at the top of that beam on thr translight may be a clue.

As a pre teen in 1988 these games look fanstastic. Though they do have a more 1983 DEVO vibe, and definitely fit that whole Euro look that was big in that time. Indeed the 80s was unique, and we can never replicate that time. If you didn't experience the 80s, then you have no idea what it was all about. It was totally to the max and ultra cool!

34:44 used to think that weird movement you can see after it hits the right hand flipper has to have something to do with the magnetic field of the coil, but I guess it's just backspin in a fast moving ball
@LyonsArcade5 жыл бұрын
That is weird but yes I think i'ts just backspin. On SOME games the inserts are raised or lowered which affects the ball slightly sometimes....
@russellgibson30705 жыл бұрын
Why does bad girls 1 drop targets reset differently then bad girls 2 after ball drains? Bg2 resets targets after drain but doesn't drop the targets that were already hit prior to ball drain where as bg1 does.
@LyonsArcade5 жыл бұрын
It's a setting in the software, you can make it carry over the drops that were already dropped or make them reset after each ball. One machine is set one way the other the other way....

[honerable mention goes to phil collins for the eternal]: "something in the air tonite," michelob advertisement for anhauser-busch, that eric clapton chimed in on for a few BUX. .. [he relied on a traditional: after midnite.] all of these artists made SO much more than they HAD been making- and "girlz just wanna have fun," as well as "papa don't preach," don't count for much- unless you include "when i think of you," by michael's little sister. damn, a vacuum of lasting entertainment! just that, for the moment- they seemed SO compelling and authentic...
