First time most people meet Hornet she's a fucking brick wall. She teaches you how to play the game correctly, though. It took me 60 tries my first time lol.

First time I played I couldn't get past Gruz Mother because I had never played a game like this before. Cue three years later when I reinstall it, and manage to get through her and False Knight, before banging my head against Hornet for ages. You're completely right though, no other boss fight teaches you more about the game than Hornet does I think

@@spiderglitch22 I hadn't ever played a game like this before either. It was a mistake to start with this one, because Ori paled in comparison and I quickly lost interest. Hollow Knight just sets the bar way too high, especially price-wise. What games can you even buy for the same price that come anywhere close? Undertale, Stardew Valley, and Hades are the only ones I've found on the Switch that are great games regardless of price but that are so cheap.

Shoot man, I had fighting game experience and I still got rolled multiple times by Hornet before it finally clicked. She did make me much better at the game though, and I don't recall having a huge issue with any other boss until the post game rolled around.

Same. That reminds me of my first run, got nuked by every boss up until I fought Broken Vessel. I beat it first try and for some reason was irritated that I beat this one so easily. So when I saw the dream fight option, I took it immediately after grabbing wings. 62 tries. More if you count me falling off the platforms before fighting the boss. I've learned my lesson about being prepared lol

What's so challenging about this game is that the enemies spam their moves. This makes it nearly impossible in the harder fights to stop and rest. Opponents are also very tanky. Fights are long and require constant movement. These are all aspects of a game which play directly on my weaknesses. 🤣😭
