Playing Recorder to my Baby Pigeon (I promise there's a reason..!)

Last week I found a baby pigeon who had been blown from his nest in strong winds. There was no way to get him back in the nest, and he clearly needed some care!
He had small injuries from a dog bite, and was cold, wet and frightened. I took him in, named him Puccini (Pucc for short), and he settled into life in my spare bedroom.
A week later, I'm pleased to report his injuries have healed, he's eating faster than I can feed him, and he's getting more and more feathery...
Pucc is hoping he can soon return to the great outdoors and enjoy life with all his fellow pigeons in the park...
In the meantime he's been enjoying (I think) some recorder music!
In this video, I play an excerpt from 'The English Nightingale' by Jacob van Eyck on my Mollenhauer Denner soprano recorder.

Ha, don’t we all! Pucc has moved to my parent’s house now as they have somewhere better for him to live while he learns to fly. No recorder playing for him there, but maybe Dad will put a Rod Stewart CD on for him! 😂

That was great! Of course Puck would watch the screen because pigeons have excellent eye site. No matter how high they’re flying, they’ll spot you!

I reckon ‘ugly cute’ just about sums him up! Though he looks better these days now he has his full compliment of feathers… he’s moved in at my parent’s place, and has turned into a sort of loyal, feathery dog! I think he’s great, but my husband hasn’t forgiven me for bringing him into the house yet 😬

Ha, if you make it through all of them then you deserve some kind of medal! I didn’t do any video update on Pucc, but he went to live at my parent’s place, where they had a shed for him to learn to fly in... he also liberally decorated it with poo, of course… 😅 They eventually released him, but he still visits their bird table most days. He was a success story! Persevere with the chickens. I want to hear a chicken choral society.

We moved him to my parent’s house, as they had a warm shed big enough for him to practice flying in. They would let him out into the garden too, and then one day he just refused to go back into the shed. He hangs around in the trees surrounding their garden and comes down for food every day. He seems healthy and happy! Thanks for asking ☺️
