​@@SadeyrKatana broke melee, its OP in melee category. It has: damage, range, speed, and now slot; Martialist counters Lance/Saber and makes Whispersmith and Silent Killer pointless. Perks that are staple of melee builds mind you. The Lance is only relevant for it's new bolt tips: DB burns for 60-90 HP, Water Frags, and Slug/Buckshot hybrid. I'm not a weeb and like the katana but I feel its a bit out of place here. Katana in Hunt makes me think of Red Steel 2 for the Wii 😅

Yeah. In theory is ok to have weapons which outclass others in every way but the katana should have stayed a 2-slot weapon. Espeically since its range with the perk is so good.

Exactly! I wish more people appreciated non meta weapons. It is okay to have less good if not bad weapons. Makes them more fun when you get kills with them. Unfortunately, with all the economy changes recently and free hunters coming with perks and decent weapons/full kits. The times you'll see machetes, nagant precisions, and springfields has dwindled with it being pretty much free to spawn with much better weapons@@inspaceoo9165

I guess the other option would be to add more unique traits to melee weapons with Martialist? Katana got the draw cut which is part of what makes it so good, but surely Martialist could give some other melee weapons more love, like the sabre, machete, railroad hammer? I really like the bat but that’s just personal preference, the comedic value is off the charts with it. I could see adding some kind of sound maker you could hit really far with martialist for it, but I have no idea what could be added for the other weapons. Wall piercing with the sabre? Throwing action with the machete? Some kind of weird concussive aoe with the hammer or something? Idk.

Honestly there is no reason to use any melee that isn't the katana or bat. They should add some way to block melee attacks with other melees. The amount of time Ive traded with people where both of us use katana martialist is more than i can count. Imagine you could parry attacks, considering melees are super strong rn, they could use a defense rework that could help tone down the melee trades.

24:50 - 25:25 is by far the hardest I've laughed in a while, the chaos, the "why did I do that?" play followed by the game of "follow the leader" makes hunt so fun, especially if the trio was laughing at it as well. GG to that trio I say.

Winnie Silenced is pretty great at taking potshots from cheeky spots alongside the underrated teamwork benefit of mowing down PvE. Machete is a melee weapon outclassed by the Heavy Knife.

@@NoahWanger In no way is it outclassed by the heavy knife. Machete: a) Has a 90 damage light attack instead of 72 damage. This means the machete light attack will immediately kill with 1 headshot, versus requiring bleed to proc before someone dies to light attack headshot, and will likewise kill immediately with 2 light attacks to the body (which heavy knife will not). If you end up fighting a 100 health hunter in melee, the machete light attack will also bleed them out far quicker than the heavy knife. It will also immediately kill a 75 hp hunter, which heavy knife will not. b) Has a 150 damage heavy attack instead of 120 damage heavy attack. The machete, since it has a wide swing, will reliably one-shot a hunter with a heavy attack so long as you don't get a blow at the fringe of its range (earning only an armshot) or hit them in the legs (since melee weapons cleave in hunt and will not stop at the first hitbox; if you're pointing in the general direction of their torso and are in range of their torso, it will hit their torso). Machete heavy attack also causes intense bleed instead of moderate bleed for if you do somehow miss them. Notably, the machete swing will immediately kill to a torso hit both 125 and 150 health hunters, while the heavy knife heavy attack will immediately kill neither. c) Has better stamina management with exception to especially large swarms of grunts. Machete is 10/20, heavy knife is 9/25; so heavy knife can do 11 vs 10 light attacks, but is 4 vs 5 on heavy attacks. d) Has a substantially longer reach than the heavy knife e) Heavy Knife is a toolkit weapon, and thus falls under the effect added with this last patch where toolkit weapons have dramatically reduced damage to bosses. Machete is not affected. For illustration, with quick testing in the tutorial, machete cycles the spider in 4 hits, heavy knife took 8-10. So, with exception to the 11 vs 10 light attack niche, the heavy knife is just worse in every way at both pvp and pve. It's a tookkit weapon, but that more or less just means that it's better for grunts since you're not giving up a secondary firearm.

I would say the real worst loadout if you have to fill out the slots is two machetes, decoys, spyglass, flashlight, blank fire decoys, and all four flash bombs. You can only trade for a pistol once you've killed someone with the machete.

Personally, my highest budget loadout recommendation is a single Nagant officer brawler with dumdum ammo... Headclicker revolver with very fast fire rate (meaning you don't need fanning trait), with melee option for immolators, with bleed damage to apply tremendous pressure on players... You only need to bring a medkit, and you're set, more or less. That nagant variation is probably the most basic, versatile, and most reliable weapon in the game!

Regular nagant is just objectively a worse option to most other options. If you want fanning, just run a suppressed nagant at worse, or simply a pax. If you want fire-rate, just run a nagant officer.. its literally the same gun but with fire-rate.. or bornheim or whatever else. Nagant is cheap for a reason. Objectively it's worse than other options.. but it's cheap. Still gets the job done I suppose.

@mercury_lamp I started to use it with bat as primary. Legendary hunter and med kit that's it. Try to get a clue or two to pay it off and just wack around try to engage up close. Because I'm solo and solos suck. They Just sit in bushes and camp objectives and dead bodies to farm kills. So I'm just being silly and not caring and it's cheap and fun and rewarding when it works
