I’m mostly afraid of teammates judging me and yelling at me for messing up. Or making fun of me because of my size and strength. But this video really helped me! Like you said, it is all just the game and not the complete end of the world.

I recently had a really bad practice when trying out for a higher level team. I got tense, nervous, and started to make some big mistakes. When this happened I became worried about what the coach and team members would think about me. After watching this video it really help me to understand wanting approval of other people and how to use reverse visualization. This video has helped reduce my anxiety. Thanks!

After having a coach that discouraged her players regularly, I have been struggling to regain my confidence in playing lacrosse. @@GetMoreConfidence We have been working reverse visiuilization with her for a few weeks before we competed in our last national tournament. She got a little panic attack before going up against #5 in the nation. We were down on the cards in the first round big but my daughter came back strong in round 2 and 3. We won the fight and went on to the finals to face USA #1 Girl in the nation. She fought well but we lost a split decision. All I can say is this technique really works. She new exactly what to do when thing went wrong. Thank you! I will keep doing this with her and with other fighters I train.

As a youngster i had trouble calming myself doing athletics, before i race my guts would just drop lol it was awful and i remember once before a long jump final i was real nervous and my first jump my legs didnt work, i ran head first into the sand! everyone laughed at me in the stand and the other athletes :( in football (soccer) i didnt struggle as bad as i saw it as a team game, but tennis, athletics etc where its all on you the pressure got to me. Anyone struggling with this please tackle it head on, do whatever it takes to beat it, as it can ruin potential careers if you let it

You hit the nail on the head and you're probably not even aware how many people appreciate this. In my case, I used to over-analyze everything and be worried about the outcome. The more I did it, the more I would mess up. It was a clear signal that even if I "care" it doesn't help. Then I realized that there are times when even the best players in our league have a bad day and that's exactly what everybody thinks - just a bad day and a bit of bad luck. Nobody, not even their teammates think that they are losers or anything of that sort. Nowadays I just turn up and execute things that I executed thousands of times. It might not always be enough but that's sport. The irony is that being somewhat indifferent also has a psychological effect on the opponent.

i just started playing golf about a month ago. i’ll go to the driving range and hit really well by myself, and then go play a round with my buddy and play horrible. i’ll go into the round with a confident mindset and play a good first hole, but as soon as i don’t do as well as i expect i shut down and it looks like i’ve never swung a golf club before. today i did a little social experiment on myself at the driving range where i hit 4 balls, 2 with my buddy looking at me and 2 with him looking away. the 2 balls i hit when he wasn’t looking at me were great and the 2 i hit with him looking at me were horrible. this video helped a ton and i’ll try these methods the next time i go play! thanks!

Thank you so much! I’m a violinist with many upcoming auditions and stressful performances. I never struggled mightily under pressure though this video still helps me a ton as in the violin world you want to be hitting that 99-100 percent accuracy. Truth is you can’t be missing shifts or playing out of tune at all. But putting it into perspective and taking into account what you’ve said really does help. In the end it’s just a game and my performance really just is affected by my own actions.

Thank you for this great video it has given me a different look at playing softball. Because in practice I am comfortable and relaxed and when the game starts I tighten up for fear of failure a and letting my teammates down. It makes the game no fun for me. I will have a different look from here on out.

Thank you for this video. I was searching for a video that could possibly put my mind at ease to sleep tonight. I play at a professional snooker/pool standard and lost a match tonight miles and miles below my standard. Everyone watching telling me I was the favourite to win the tournament out then I get beaten. I have gotten into a very dirty habit of drinking before I play to try block out my surroundings and it is a shame because of the natural ability i have. It's really hurting me because I know I can be a great way beyond what I even believe myself.

Is it weird that I almost cried watching this?! I suffer from horrible performance anxiety and it's pretty much across-the-board with everything--public speaking, playing and singing my guitar in front of others, and sports competition! I've been mountain biking for a really long time and I'm pretty damn fast, but I went into race For the first Time a few years ago and I practically had a panic attack before the race started; I was new to the town and I was so worried about what other people we're going to think for some reason. I wound up going way too hard up the first stretch and I totally blew it. I am also a singer and I play guitar--I don't play guitar as well as I sing but I love to do it--unless people are around and then suddenly I can't play. I've been struggling with it for years. It's weird, because I'm an extrovert--but I do suffer from horrible performance and sometimes social anxiety... So I'm going to keep watching your stuff, to you see if I can get over this crap--sadly I think it's been holding me back for my entire life :(

When Im at hockey practice I skate well and i stick handle well with my headup, and then when it comes down to games im nervous like i can't skate with the puck nor make good plays. Like you said im letting judgement of others get to me, I just got to release that anxiety 30 mins before game and put my mind to that reverse visualization when im in the lockeroom
