I have the Vevor 180 watt 6L digital ultrasonic cleaner with the vinyl record attachment. I have a very substantial vinyl collection that I have created over the span of several decades and wanted to try one of these to see if the hype about them was true. IT IS! After I finished cleaning my entire collection I was amazed at how much better they sounded, some even as good as when new. I ran the temperature at the 32 setting and the cleaning cycle for 10 minutes. After rinsing in distilled water to get rid of any loose residue I let them air dry in a set of dish racks. I could only do six records at a time (the machine will do eight but I wanted the additional spacing) so it took over two months to do my entire collection but it was well worth the effort and time invested. AND I now have an ultrasonic cleaner for my shop since it also came with the basket seen here.

I heard or read somewhere that the ultrasonic cleaner can do a really terrific job cleaning linens like those rags but the problem is the dirt only gets loosened up but still needs to be rinsed out of the material well afterwards to finish the job. Which sort makes sense looking at what was left in the tank when you were done. Not sure about any of that, just thought to pass that tid bit along.

2 tips: a upside down cardboard box (Amazon box it came in) placed over it when running cuts down the sound by about 30%. And Simple Green makes and extreme metal cleaner the work amazing in these machines.

As a side note, spent years in the jewelry industry, ultrasonic cleaners were both fantastic and a death trap. Let’s say you had a diamond ring. If the diamond was loose at all it would vibrate and cut through the gold head holding it in place so you could end up having to remount the stone. Takeaway, loose parts will wear against each other in an ultrasonic cleaner it may or may not make a difference but if your wrench is a little sloppier than before it may not be due to just the removal of dirt.

I've seen some experiments with evaporust in an ultrasonic cleaner, which seemed to increase speed. As for putting things in a zip-lock or other container, that's to easily swap between cleaning in various solutions without having to discard everything before. E.g. if you just did an evaporust run and then needed to do an acetone run.

You have mention this river where you find your stock a few times. I confess, I’m very curious what it looks like and would like a field trip video. Of course not if doing so would result in losing your preferred fishing spot as it were. But I’m curious. I’m just picturing you wading into the water with goggles and a snorkel. But the more I think about it the more I’m convinced that my brain came up with something ridiculous.

My biggest complaint is it only goes for 30 minutes at a time. I wish the time at least went to 90. I did have the fuse holder melt and I couldn't find the correct size glass fuse. Luckily the power block assembly simply unscrewed and I could pull it right out of the housing. I installed an automotive mini fuse holder and sinched right all the spade connections in the back and that took care of that. I suspect the fuse and connections may have loosened up which caused the fuse to blow.

Interesting, especially how it removes the black from evaporust treatment, I recently bought a huge box of old drills and end cutters, all covered in surface rust, the evaporator treatment took the rust off but left everything black (even though I did wash everything in water after the evaporator), maybe I need one of these gadgets too....

Great videos Jeremy. I have small ultrasonic cleaner and would like to get on like that. I know you said you didn’t want to mess with Ziploc bags but give this a try. Take a piece of hot rolled steel and put it in a bag with vinegar and then put it in the cleaner. It will take all the scale off.
@TheStigma
@TheStigma 3 ай бұрын
If you want to remove rust you need to use an acid or chelator (like evapo-rust). If you combine those with the ultrasonic cleaner though - it's pretty magical how fast and thoroughly it works, inside and outside. I often use various sizes of glass jars if I want to clean something with a spesific cleaner that I don't want to necessarily fill a 30L tank with. The rest can just be water. Keeps the tank clean too. I see people use ziplock bags (LDPE plastic), and that works I guess - but they often leak, or warp from a combination of heat and strong chemicals. LDPE isn't that resistant. Also, plastic is not a good conductor for vibrations, so thicker and more resistant plastic containers aren't ideal.

I tried it out a couple nights ago and what I found even with the heater button turned off the water temperature raised to just below 50 Celsius. I’m curious if this is normal vever company told me that the ultrasonic cleaning procedure will produce some heat. This is a little extreme in my opinion. I’d like to know if other individuals have the same issue.

I've used the snap top food containers from Dollar Tree. They have a thin wall so they are very transparent to sound waves, are cheap and come in a whole bunch of sizes. Besides evaporust, I've used white vinegar for rust and calcium deposits, and charcoal lighter fluid for degreasing (essentially same as kerosene). I prefer the containers to ziplock back as there is zero chance of them getting punctured.

Hmm, never saw your mill from that angle, or at least i dont think i have... She is much smaller than i previously thought... Now dont get me wrong, she aint no baby mill, but the machine work confines are indeed not much larger than what Quinn`s current larger sized baby mill offers, from what i can see... I kinda had the notion that she`s a more primitive or simpler version of a regular vertical mill, akin to bridgeport, but with no head swivel or tilt.. Also, no head ram as the Y axis... Which isnt all too bad, as the rigid head mount aint a bad thing, but at the same time, having all 3 traverse vectors essentially bound to one component is a bit bad, as whatever happens to primary axis affects the other two in turn... If your Z, the knee tilts to side as it goes up, the x cuts at an angle which cant be corrected properly without fixing the Z ways, and at the same time, Y also gets shifted, or at least the relation of head to table is the same as it was with X, as all 3 are correlated... Thats kinda why surface and jig grinders have each axis on separate casting with its own ways and fixturing surfaces, making it harder to scrape in each of the ways in relation to each other and at the same time to conjoining surfaces of the castings which ``carry`` the ways, but all in all, it allows for a single axis to wear out and be fixed in relation to other ways, without introducing any compromise... A simple return to OEM specs... But dude, that vibrator bath is damn nice! I wish i had one... I would put my neighbours cat in a bag and toss it in there for an hour... 100% would stop the screaming and squealing every night underneath my window, and the chinese neighbour would finally share his secret recipe for the won ton soup after being offered the most tender cat he ever tasted... But in all seriousness, that is one huge tub... I worked with a small tub for diesel injector cleaning and such work, but generally, it was always a hassle trying to fit things in there without cramming them like sardines and thus allowing parts to scratch each other while rubbing against one another... Hell, you can bathe a child in one corner of that tub while washing a car differential in the other... Now that is what i call effective use of time!(sorry, i just cant stop, i guess im not wasted enough yet... I`ll get to it right away... The machines are well lubed up, so why am I not as well?) Speaking of vac hose, just plug one end, fill it with dish soap and water, let it sit for an hour until water cools, toss the water out, rinse with hot water, plug the end, repeat and play with chemicals and soaps, depending on what you do with your shop vac different compounds will work better, for woodworking, just hot water and dish soap will likely do all you need... For us sadists who suck up grinding grit, white hot sparks, machine coolant, machine grease and oil and chips of any kind, well that is another matter... I generally rely on pink/black domestos, which is based on hydrochloric acid, but not before a good soak in dish soap for degreasing... Those two and rinsing with scalding hot water seems to do the trick... You can also get a steel rod, say 1/2 inch by 6ft, cobble together a way to retain a toilet scrubber on one end(break the scrubber plastic handle, drill the brush undersize and superglue the rod into the brush head), the scrubbers come in different sizes, pick one best fitting your hose, after you have your hose loose, the extended no longer a toilet scrubber in hand and dish soap in the other, well i guess you can handle it yourself... That will get a hose sparkly clean from inside, but you do have to make an extended crud-o-matic, which with 1/2 inch rod fits into a drill chuck, making it a 6ft long crud-o-matic-9000... Just put it on slow speed, a 6ft long steel rod spinning at speed can whip sideways and bend in a second, obliterating you like no man`s business... A vac hose doesnt need 2K rpm on the brush, 10 rpm to 100 is more than sufficient to brush out any grit, crud or lube caked in there with help of hot water and dish soap...

Your channel could almost be renamed "The Day After Machinist". Of what it would be like to make-do with scrap metal, worn out machines and lacking in the luxuries of McMaster-Carr or tooling that we can buy and get by UPS in just a matter of days. It is what it might be like to machine tools and parts after civilization falls; By someone who just has a home shop filled with worn out tools and a five kilowatt diesel generator running off of old cooking oil. Trying to fabricate things in a world similar to what is in the game "Fallout 4"; Failing a bunch of times, trying again, revising your technique and coming up with something that meets the bare standards of functionality. I have watched A-LOT of machinery/ restoration type channels and yours is the only one that crosses in to details about how to machine out your own tool-steel or to use some rusty, roached-out chunk of iron to make something useful. While I appreciate the rusty bits that you leave behind on non-critical surfaces you do not become slavish to that aesthetic and still leave a very functional device with just a hint of the rough origins of the source metal. Keep up the good work.

I had this thing less than 20 minutes out of the box! I get ahold of Vevor and I let them know. They want me to take it apart and take pics of the motherboards and send pics to them and want me to fix it! $305.00 of trash and they won’t even replace it! Vevors customer service is garbage. If you have a problem, do a follow up and let us know how it goes. They wont send you any parts, they start by haggling over a partial refund, then they eventually offer a full refund if its obvious they screwed up. Thats good, at least, but if you bought something like hand rails or something you permanently install (like i did), you pretty much have to tear it out.

Damn, i just bought a Vevor pressure pit, never having heard of the brand, and it turns out they make actual product for humans to use? Weird. The only time I'd heard of them is a dumb KZbin video where some douche reads off a script talking about how Vevor is a professional company that makes "insightful" products, so i assumed i got a no name bottom of the barrel pressure pot. But now i find out the company actually makes real products that real humans use, and not just a junk KZbin video where the dude sets up the pressure pot incorrectly, puts a mask on, goes up to an unpainted wall, and then the video ends. I thought: "oh, crap, these guys don't even trust their own product, or they don't give samples out to humans that have brains" I'm glad to see Vevor is apparently not a division of Fisher Price. Now maybe ny pressure pot won't instantly explode, flinging shrapnel and uncured resin into my face or cat. Whew! Dodged that bullet.
