The first two turns were a great showcase of meta calls. Mystic Remora became meta, so people shifted to mana dorks to ramp without triggering it. Mana dorks became meta, so the Mystic Remora player brought cards to punish them for not playing rocks. Awesome stuff.

Not only that, but in addition to being able to take out powerful 1 drop creatures, End the Festivities can be recurred with Krarkashimas to ping the table to death, since it also hits opponents. Powerful versatility of 1 mana spells when given extra power by commanders.

Big agree. I said during pre game how i didn't want to keep the hand. But I figured that if the t1 remora didn't do anything, I'd have the wrath to try and get something the next turn though a rebuild. Unfortunately it didn't work, but it is what it is !

So I did the math because math is fun. After Matt attacked Dan in game 3, Dan had 27 life left. Obviously Matt can cast bolt as many times as he'd like before the cycle breaks. There's a 25% chance that the cycle breaks, and he'll deal 9 damage to Dan when that happens. So he needs to deal 18 damage before the cycle breaks to stop Dan from untapping and winning. So because there's a 25% chance the cycle breaks each iteration (wins both flips), there's a 75% chance it doesn't. Average damage when the cycle doesn't break is (3+3+0)/3 = 2. 18/2 = 9, so he will, on average, need 9 unbroken cycles to kill Dan. (.75)^9 = .075, so he had a 7.5% chance of killing Dan. Definitely possible, but also pretty bad odds. Just goes to show, never feed the fish! Edit: this is of course assuming Dan has a way to win that doesn’t involve losing 6 life. If he can’t find a line, Matt has a 17.8% chance of at least stopping him from winning the game (.75^6).

2 nitpicks: At 10:06, with Derevi on the stack (or maybe when there was a counter war on the stack), Tad scould have blown his LED to dig for an answer like REB, Pyroblast or Slaughter's Pact, since he'd have 3 mana and draw a card with Korvold's ability. At 15:36, given the choice of killing Krark or Sakashima, you should kill the later since it's more expensive to redeploy and Krark doesn't work with the many clone effects the deck already runs.

Small detail in the final game that wasn't noted, when Matt hits Dan with Krark and birgi on turn 2 his life total isn't changed, this means that Dan was down 5 more life then we saw at the end, making that final turn even more impressive.

Wait, but then... On 24:55 the narrator says "He repeats this process 3 more times, and then on the last flip wins both flips. In total, Dan takes 9 damage from Lightning Bolt." But if by "this process" he meant "cast LB, win a flip and lose a flip, deal 3 and return LB", then wouldn't it be 15 damage? So, if Dan was supposed to be down 5+(15-9)=11 more life, he would be on 1 and wouldn't be able to cast Vampiric Tutor or Reanimate. Or am I missing something?
@mose96292 жыл бұрын
@@maxbow-arrow5931 At the very end of the game he is supposed to be on 1 life, not at the start of his turn, this means he should have been on 7 after all the bolts, putting him at exactly enough to execute his plan and live on 1 at the end.

That End the Festivities is the most brutal ping I've ever seen in my life! 😱 That being said, Matt's fish deserved to starve to death. Question for Cole at 13:51 What mileage does Thassa brings other than making Creatures unblockable, scrying on upkeep, and indestructible? It feels like for 3 mana it should either be part of a win condition or do something incredibly impactful. Moreover, Thassa seems more useful early game as opposed to late game.

I found it a strange inclusion as well. As a follow up is bolas citadel that good in yuriko? Its a decent flip but 6 mana is a bit steep for yuriko
@koanos24482 жыл бұрын
@@antfayden You could make an infinite combo with the Citadel but Yuriko is probably the worst Commander to use with this. You could make a somewhat convincing argument that it allows for Yuriko to "Whiff" less often by simply playing all the low CMC cards Main Phase 1 but the issue here is getting to 6 mana in the first place. If your opponents are still alive by the time you cast it it's either because of Turn 1 Fast Mana or your top decks so far have failed to apply enough pressure to the table.

For any rules professionals here, im building a sakashima/krark dragons approach deck for the shits and giggles(i know the copies dont work towards the fetch effect, its really just about having 30 copies of a "ping your opponents" effect + thrumming stone shennanigans). Here is my question: If you have multiple krark triggers for a spell (e.g. by sakashima, veyran voice of duality or whatever), how come that an instance of the ability can still copy the spell if a previous instance resulted in a lost coinflip and therefore for bouncing the spell back? As i would understand the rules, lets say we have krark and sakashima in play and cast lightning bolt: Stack (from bottom to top) -Lightning Bolt -Krark Trigger(2) -Krark Trigger(1) So i resolve "Krark Trigger(1)" first. I flip and lose. Therefore i remove lightning bolt form the stack and bounce the spell back to my hand. So stack after resolving "Krark Trigger(1)" should be: -Krark Trigger(2) So now i resolve the "Krark Trigger(2)". I win the flip. But the spell in question is not on the stack anymore. As i understand it, it can therefore not be copied. How come the triggered ability of Krark is able to copy a spell that has been bounced before within the same stack?
