지금은 하늘에 계시는 외할아버지와 함께 대청마루에서 종이비행기를 만든적이 있었다. 점심을 나즈막히 지날무렵, 구름을 헤집고 마당으로 쏟아지는 햇살이 너무도 아름다워 바라보고만 있었다. 만약 그 때 그 햇살을 소리로 만들었다면 이 음악이지 않을까 하는 생각이 든다.

FYI: the strange muted tone comes from a strip of felt being dropped down between the strings and the hammers (on upright pianos). The tone becomes cloudy, and at a times the mass of felt piece will also strike neighboring strings allowing a bleedthrough of extra notes being played (most noticeable using sustain pedal). All those clackety noises are the sounds of hammers returning to rest rail, and even the keys wobbling on key pins: all generally extra noises classical recordings try to minimize.

While it makes perfect sense for recordings, as a piano player I personally enjoyed hearing the sounds here. Because the resonating and creaking of the piano feels amazing when playing! Like the piano itself is alive.

There's something magical about listening to this through headphones. It's wonderful to hear the creaking of the damper along with the tones from finger to keys, keys to hammers, hammers to strings, strings to the soundboard.
