Im a Flyers fan, decided to skip the playoff beard/facial hair this year since their last three appearances in '14,'16', and '18 all resulted in first round exits. Last time I was cleanshaven for the playoffs was 2012 when they last won a series so it's working out good so far. Also watching shaving videos lure me into shaving and I enjoy it since switching to DE. P.S props for calling it a sweater as it should be

I just ordered a Feather Artist Club with the pro-guard razors, since I've never used a straight razor before I wanted to use something that would be more forgiving, can't wait to try it out and eventually move up to the professional blades.
@johnhale55274 жыл бұрын
I have used the Feather Artist Club with the pro guard blades and the "professional" blades as well. Honestly, the pro-guard ARE more forgiving (fewer nicks, cuts, and abrasions) and the shave is just as close as with the others. Probably closer since I feel more confidence in not getting hurt with the pro-guard. There's my 2 cents. Spend them wisely! :-)

I've found that (at least with my safety type handles, which peak in an ATT SE1) chasing a 1 pass BBS shave from my usual 5 day growth just results in nicks. I wonder if that would be different with that shavette. Been tempted to get one. There's nothing, NOTHING like a Feather PS-20 blade. It's interesting to me that you seem to use as many strokes in one pass as i use in two. I've only been shaving with proper instruments for 4 or 5 years so i'm probably still demonstrating cartridge user habits

Hi Geo, why do you apply the shaving cream directly on top of the pre-shave cream? I thought it was better to let the skin absorb the pre-shave cream first. Greetings from Italy.
@geofatboy4 жыл бұрын
As with many things shaving related-YMMV. Some of it soaked in and some doesn't. The more water you use, the more it dissolves and soaks into the beard. Rinsing it out before applying shaving cream kind of defeats the purpose.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again because it’s true. Geo could straight shave with with an old Pepsi can and engine grease and not only make it look easy, he would make it look cooler than the other side of the pillow. Geo! THE Dude!

Baby smooth after one pass with the Pepsi can. But that engine grease gives you plenty of lubrication for another pass if you want to take it to the next level.

Your site is impressive in your knowledge, skill and friendliness. I first used a de when I started shaving in 1964,65. I then went to injector, then to cartridge then electric and back to cartridge. I recently started using a de again. I am a pretty low maintenance guy, and three passes seemed like too much for me to enjoy. I have a fairly heavy beard and shave every day. So I wanted to try a one pass. I bought two razors, a Merkur Progress and Viking Meiji, what do I know. Anyway I prefer the progress, set on 3.5 or 4. I do one pass, shaving as I would with a cartridge, with, across and against the grain, and get a bbs, or what at least feels very smooth, shave. It feels a little rough but still looks good about 9 or 10 hours later. I am going to try some other razors, just haven’t decided which yet. Thanks for your site.

I love pre-shaves for their scent, not their functionality, as that is very limited, and they're a total waste of money... Get a few drops of Olive Oil, Coconut Oil etc, and you get even better results at 100th of the price of a pre-shave :P I also dislike a lot of "Experts", talking about the importance of taking your time, to put on shaving lather... What works, is the time it sits, not about how well you "Rub it in" :P Basically the more water in it, the better, and if you wanna see wet lather, check out all Turkish Barbers on ASMR videos, now that is a fast and perfect lather :P P.S Geo, you CAN'T close pores, it's a horrible myth that has been talked about for 30+ years now, they are not a muscle, you can make them look smaller by keeping them clear, but there is no such thing as hot water / steam to open them, and cold to close them, it is impossible :P What makes them seem like they open up, and make skin easier to deal with, is water, doesn't matter about the temperature, it is just the body reacting to water :)
