Take a picture of what is supposed to be in the bin then you can put the picture on the outside so the kids know what goes in each bin. I used to work in a two year old room at a daycare and it helped the kiddos learn how to put the toys away correctly. Just a suggestion 😊👌🏻

I have absolutely no idea why I read comments...I know reading some of them are just going to get me incredibly frustrated so why do I do that to myself?? I guess I just can't understand why people feel the need to pass so many judgments on vloggers. Not just Cullen and Katie, all of them. But in this instance, I don't understand how people can make some snap judgements on their personal lives, criticize them for having too many toys and the kids will be spoiled and my new "favorite", people making comments about how undisciplined an 18 month old baby is. I mean really?? Would those people making rude comments walk up to Cullen and Katie if they saw them in Target and tell they they need to start disciplining their kids better or not to buy a toy they have in the cart because the kids are spoiled??? Good gracious I really hope not. So why in the world do people think it's ok to make this rude, disrespectful and just plain damaging comments on social media? Heck I'm only talking about today's comments, the last several vlogs have been filled with horrible comments about Cullen and Katie's personal lives. I just don't understand how or why people feel it's ok. I don't think I'll ever understand. SMDH

The bin thing works for me Katie! When I don't have time to put things where they go, I use an empty bin and pick up toys from all over the house and just put the entire bin in the playroom. Then later in the day I'll empty the bin in the playroom. It is so helpful because having the house picked up quickly, gives me motivation to put the toys away in the playroom. Good luck!! 😊

When we have too much clutter it's b/c we have TOO MUCH stuff! One way we tried to keep order was by cycling toys in and out. Leave out the favorites for right now then in a month, 2,3 whatever you decide and then take the extra stuff out (leaving a few of the favorites) and then bring in other stuff then they are like 'new toys!"....When you label -- make sure they are pics or drawings of what goes inside so the kids can even help put stuff away 'in the right place'...good luck -- the arrangement at the end looked great!!!

I used to work in a preschool, we used to have bins for all the small motor manipulative toys like legos, dinosaurs, and stuff like that, every bin had a picture of what went inside it on the outside of the bin so the kids knew. They were also only supposed to take out one bin at a time and put it away before they took out another one, but that can be hard when you’ve got a one year old lol. Good luck! I love the new configuration in the playroom! Sending much love from PA! ❤️Caryn

I am a both a single Momma and a full-time teacher, so organization is key in my sanity! I have a photo of what goes in the bin, it labeled (in print) and I laminate it (or you can use clear contact paper). This allows either my students or my son to put things away/being a self-manager, respect for what we have and the expanded literacy opportunities with the print. In my classroom I have a picture on the shelf of the same item so the children know where to find/put away the bin. I love this because it helps gives the responsibility to the children and takes the "where does this go" out of our conversation. We can't expect children to cleanup or stay organized if we don't give them the tools to do it. Right?!?! Happy Friday!

Yes! Put picture labels on each bin AND the word. That way kids know exactly where everything goes and learn to recognize the words as well. Also, check out the FlyLady website, Katie!! It changed my life and I am not even kidding. She breaks down Household chores and organizing into super fast and manageable tasks. She gives you a plan for each day and encourages you. Before long you realize that you have a routine and it's easy. Everything is broken down into 15 minute tasks. It's perfect for busy mamas!!!

Suggestion, pick a room that’s not finished, then give you yourself a deadline say 2 weeks for rooms that are started and a month for rooms that need everything redone. Put it on your calendars, it will make you more likely to get it done. Specifiaclly choose the order of the room before hand, so you can be brainstorming ideas for the next room while finishing the current room.

I had an in-home daycare for years. All my puzzles and books and games were in a cupboard and the kids couldn't get into them wily nily because - pieces! All they did was dump them out and then get another and dump that out when I had them on a low shelf. It was an expensive lesson for me. We lost a lot of game and puzzles pieces that way. Not sure where they went... Same with books, all over the place and ripped up. So they were all put away until we did those things together as an activity, and I could hand them out, one at a time. Finish one, get another. It drove me nuts so I had to come up with a system. Same with the small Legos, I had them in a clean, lidded (kitty litter!) bucket (and it is very full!). That was a table activity and they never left the table when the Legos were out lol. The big Legos and blocks were in a bin though for the little ones. I would highly recommend some shelving up on the walls for things that you dole out when appropriate (or a cupboard they can't open). Maybe rotate toys out...I know someone who puts some away for awhile and then rotates them around in a few months so they seem like new toys to the kids. Otherwise, cool room! I really like it, looks really nice. (I give it an hour max that it stays neat when Brooks gets up lol. Those bins are saying, "tip me over and pour me out!

Something that I would recommend is having a toy rotation. Pick out a few toys per child and store those in the playroom, then get big clear containers and put all of the other toys in there. Rotate the toys every month. That way you won’t be stressed out by how many toys are everywhere. Hope this helps. 😊

You guys should make your front room by the front door your playroom. It is way bigger and can handle all of your toys. Then you should look at pottery Barn for storage shelving that can hid the clutter. Another tip would be to take the couch out of the playroom. It takes up to much needed space for their toys.

Take photos of the toys in each bin. It's a fun process because you can set up the toys super cute for the pic haha! The tape it to the front of the bin and it makes it super easy for the kids to help you clean up!

You guys should just have one play room and let them learn toys go in that room . Get rid of the 2nd playroom by the kitchen and make it a brunch area with small round table with flowers on it. To much stuff to much clutter. Take picture of the toy then tape it on the box so then they can see the car toy picture on the box and know cars go in that box!

Something we started for our playroom was the picture system. We did labels at first but the kids being young they couldn't read them. So instead I took actual photos of certain items that went in certain bins. I laminated the photos and put them on the bins. The kids can cleanup all on their own because they can see what toys go in what bucket! Just an idea since Gaines and Brooks are still young.

We do the empty basket thing too. We make the kids pick up all all the toys at the end of the night, and put them into the empty basket. Then they help sort everything into its home bin. It's been a good system for us, and has helped us keep from random stuff getting put in the wrong home. Also works well for what y'all said too, when you have surprise company coming over, or any other random reason why you need the toys picked up quickly.
