There is some debate about the Playstation 2's support of high definition graphics (as mentioned at 0:53 in the video). By high definition, I mean at least 720p resolution rendered natively. The hardware supports higher resolution output (and progressive scan) via the component output. The Linux kit for the console supports 1280x1024 resolution, for instance, and the graphics hardware can output at 1920x1080 over component cables. Only a handful of games support 1080i output (Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy, for example) but this output is natively rendered at 480i and then upscaled to 1080i. To my limited knowledge, there are no games for the PS2 that support a minimum native resolution of 720p. Therefore, if 1080i output (regardless of scaling) qualifies the PS2 as an HD-ready console, then it is. I tend to consider native graphics resolution of at least 720p (with no upscaling) the benchmark for HD, however, and that is the basis for my statement in the video. The PS2 hardware is designed to play games at 480i and the processing power isn't quite optimal for HD graphics rendering... but that is a subjective opinion on my part. There is a software modification available for the console, however, that apparently updates the graphics drivers and permits native HD graphics! I have not tried it but this video covers the topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZDakmhtf52pmMk (Subscribe to @MetalJesusRocks if you haven't already) If anyone has tried this modification and enabled true HD output on the console, please let me know! Additionally, if anyone knows for certain that any PS2 games exist that support at least 720p output without upscaling, I'd certainly like to know as well. From what research I've done, I have not found any.
@blitz93124 жыл бұрын
Not only that but on opl you can get 1080p
@Nikku42114 жыл бұрын
GSM doesn't change the render resolution at all, though. When you set it to output at 1080i/p, all it does is upscale the graphics. It doesn't make anything more detailed, it just makes the pixels sharper and clearer, and in some games, gets rid of interlacing artefacts. I don't even use GSM a lot because it gives me an annoying border around the game's screen.

PS2? idk why. but. Kingdom Hearts 1 fits it well with its watery tones and beach swishing, that to the beginning of KH1 as well.

It's a recording of a piano falling. All the chords snapping and what not cause that sound.

so soothing...The Fifth Element has a lot of sounds like this as well. Guess that's why it's my favorite film.

While that might otherwise be an interesting video to make, I'm fairly sure all of the samples in the startup were custom-created with a synthesizer.

So the video of the piano getting chucked off a building is bullshit? I did think so.
@Nitrocosm2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean, I always thought that video was meant to be a joke. It's surprising that anyone thinks that's the true origin but I've fallen for much goofier stuff.
