Great video super simple and to the point. My ps4 is 10 years old and has never been cleaned keeped on powering off do to over heating now it works great after cleaning. I never even thought about replaceing the thermal paste and none of the other cleaning videos mentioned it. Replaceing the thermal paste and dusting it helped a lot.

@@TheBrickie78 It could be several causes. It is difficult to judge what the cause is without further investigation. If nothing happens at all (no beep, no blue light, no beep When you operate the disc drive) it is usually the power supply.

I have 1 main question after seeing all this. I hear some people around me say when they cleaned their ps4s and put them back together the ps4 was worse.. either it was louder or would shut it self down saying to hot or the fan completely stoped working and they can’t find a replacement fan that even fits.. why would people be running into this after cleaning the dust out? My sisters man fried his original ps4 fan doing exactly this. How did he manage that? Any ideas what he did wrong?
@SpareTimeWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Good question, I think the worse cooling is due to not replacing the thermal paste. If the thermal paste is not replaced, the heat transfer to the heatsink is no longer good and your ps4 overheats very quickly. I once had a message from someone who also had cooling problems after cleaning. In his case, the type of cooling paste was the cause (according to him). I use arctic mx4 myself and know it works well. I have never tried anything else myself. So from my own experience, I cannot confirm that the brand of cooling paste really matters much. I can only confirm that Actic mx4 works well. As for the fan, I don't have an answer unfortunately. Never had any problems with them myself. Maybe they break if you spin them up with a compressor with cleaning? But this is just a guess... Why you would clean your PlayStation there in the first place? Because your PlayStation 4 that is very dusty gets much hotter. Makes more noise and can eventually cause damage to your APU (the solder joint underneath), or a broken power supply. I hope I was able to answer your questions. Should you get started, please let me know how it went. If you encounter any problems, I will be happy to help you.

Okay so. I've seen this video a couple times. I've noticed that the reason my discs won't go into the system. Is because one of those two blue rollers may he off the track. If thats the issue. Im going to be annoyed. System itself works fine. But I can't put discs in. Anyway. Rambling. I'm just worried about breaking something and being fucked. My PS4 is old as hell. But it still works so. Does anything happens if 1 of the 8 thermal pads is removed ?
@SpareTimeWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Probably not right away. I have never tried it myself. But I recommend installing all thermal pads. Chances are, without the thermal pad, the chip cannot get rid of its heat and therefore your ps4 will malfunction.
@xx_ksaforever_xx Жыл бұрын
@@SpareTimeWorkshopThx for the info. I have one more question if you don’t mind. My little brother told me that the ps4 started to make weird and scary sound and it overheats and turn off, so i turned it on to see, and after like 2 minutes it started to make a drill sound. It’s like the cooling fan contact with something idk, but the sound is really really bad, so I cleaned the cooling fan and the motherboard and changed the thermal paste (nothing else) and I turned it on and the same sound didn’t change if not worse. I even was in the home screen not playing anything and after like 5 few minutes it turned off. I am so confused like what could be the problem ?
@SpareTimeWorkshop Жыл бұрын
@@xx_ksaforever_xx Of course you can ask a question no problem. Judging from your story I think the cooling fan bearing is broken. You can test the fan of your own ps4 in your brother's ps4. To see if the problem is then solved. Only that is quite a lot of work.
