Not my best video. has a few inconsistancies. Sorry for that - The controller has a front LED lightbar that the previous dual shock does not have. - the ps4 slim has already released a while back - I didn't know until testing that the ps4 wouldn't use a 4k blu ray player. It just seemed like a no brainer. I had read a rumor and even reported that it didn't but, since its sony's hardware, I figured it was worth a test. It doesn't. - There were no noticeable changes to games that I tested and at the time of the test the only 'pro' patch I was able to get was for Final Fantasy Worlds which actually seemed to make things worse. - no noticable changes to the vr games I tested either - marginal changes to load time and download speeds. Sorry for the sloppy reporting in this one. I've been dealing with some stuff and because of it this video was rushed. I should have done better.

Blue Shadow thing is, only %5 of PC gamers own high-end PCs. saying 720p is dated is a true statement, since everyone owns a 1080p display. saying 1080p is dated is false, since barely anyone owns a 4k display. just because PC is alot more powerful, doesn't mean the PS4 is dated. obviously i can put millions into research and make the ultimate PC that can run 50 games at 12k 120fps simultaneously but that doesn't make your PC dated, it just means that you've taken new technology earlier than others.

I have a big 60'' 4k tv and I can say for those with a big 4k tv you will notice right off the bad at the main menu a huge improvement to graphics from the PS4 and PS4 pro. The pro really brings the full capabilities of the tv to light, colors to the fluidity of navigation is immediately noticeable. On my older 1080p 40'' I didn't see as much difference. Pro does run everything smoother though that might be because my ps4 is older at a year and a half but it constantly would hang at times, spit out errors opening apps, and transistioning from menu to menu, app to app, some nights was a battle in itself. No issues with the Pro. I have tried opening all my apps, cruising through menus, opening games, and downloading while navigating and nothing slows this beast down. VR doesn't look any better to me personally but I noticed games seem to run a bit smoother.

People need to remember that the PS2 and PS3 cost far more than their sticker price, by as much as $200 for the PS3. The principle of "fixed costs" means that the amount of processing power you actually get in a given box does not go up linearly with price. Packing and shipping, the shell and frame for the console itself, optical drive, hard drive (the absolute minimum cost of a hard drive has always been around $30, no matter what capacity, because they require lots of precision moving components), power supply, accessories, etc... these things will never drop in price and always eat up the same portion of the cost of a console. A $400 console has the potential to be much more than twice as powerful as a $200 console. Not only did Sony launch the PS4 at a lower price than the PS3, but it was also profitable at launch. It was a $400 system that cost $380 to make, instead of the PS3 which was a $500 system that cost $700 to make (closer to $800 adjusted for inflation). Sony is not the industry giant it once was, the company would die if they tried to eat costs like that again. If you want to see another console that's on the cutting edge of technology like the PS3 was, it's going to cost you at least $700.

No 4k bluray player is a killer for me. I just dont see the graphical leap to be that great. If you own a pc you can buy GTX1070 for the same price as this ps4 pro and be able to play 4k games at around 50 fps on max settings and 1080p max is a breeze in the park. Not really understanding what Sony was thinking with this one. They were better off doing what Microsoft is going to do and just make a really more powerful console.

I pre-ordered a ps4 pro from Best Buy and got it on launch day (10th of Nov). I already had a PS4 black 500 gig that I had pre-ordered as well way back when it was released. I had a 1080p TV, but also upgraded to a Samsung UN40KU6290 40 inch 4k HDR TV so I would be ready for 4k gaming. Honestly, I do notice a considerable difference in all my games on the pro. Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Dues Ex, and Shadows of Mordor all support 4k HDR and look amazing on this console. They also run at a faster fps than on my old ps4 and load times are a little faster too. Elder Scrolls Online has multiple options on the pro too. 4k Native And 1080p enhanced. The load times are also faster on ESO and the fps are higher as well. The 1080p enhanced basically runs in HD, but with enhanced shadows, and reflection such as on water. The lakes and graphics look better on 1080p Enhanced, but over all the 4k mode is what I run because the higher resolution and some graphics tweaks in this mode make everything in the game look sharper overall. The game also does not get severe drops in fps in heavily populated areas like my regular ps4 did. I also have Titanfall 2 and it is one of the best looking games on the console. My understanding is they have not patched it yet for ps4 pro. So no HDR or cranked up graphics yet, but they ate working on it. The game already looks so damn good as is so I can't wait to see it run when they patch it for ps4 pro. I also have Skyrim Remastered and it looks so much better than the ps3 version regardless of what ps4 you have. I am not entirely sure if it's patched for ps4 pro yet. I can say that 4k does make it look better and I have not experienced the slow downs people have reported online yet. I tried Neverwinter and I really can't notice any improvement over regular PS4 versions, but they have not patched their game to be optimized for ps4 pro and you can tell for sure. Overwatch and Diablo 3 both look better in 4k resolution, but they have not been patched yet either so the only other difference is higher fps and load times. I can confirm that if you load a game for the first time that supports HDR it prompts you to enable it and all the games that support HDR have an option for it in the in-game settings, but only a small handful of games actually utilize HDR at this point. If a game supports HDR my TV also comes up and says playing HDR content too. I have not tried BF1 or the new COD so I can't comment on them. I do plan to get Last Guardian on the 6th of Dec and the new Mass Effect on the 31st. My understanding is both games at release will support HDR, 4k, and have cranked up graphics settings on the PS4 pro. I can't wait to test them out! My honest opinion is this... If you still have 1080p TV then games will get a little higher fps and faster load times with some games like ESO getting higher graphics settings, but to really appreciate the console and really see it shine you need a 4k HDR 10bit or 12 bit panel TV that specifically supports HDR10 or Dolby Vision, and Wide Color Gamute. Regular TV have 8bit panel and do 8 million colors, 10 bit panel does 2 billion colors, and 12 bit TV has 68.7 billion colors. Be very careful when purchasing a HDR TV!! Some say HDR on them, but they lack Wide Color Gamute and the 10/12 bit panel. So although they will accept a HDR signal it is not HDR10 or Dolby Vision and it will not look even close to what a 10bit or 12 bit panel will. I would say if you don't have a Wide Color Gamute 10/12 bit HDR 4k TV then hold off on purchasing the Pro until you can buy one. Samsungs line of those TV's are the SUHD ones with active nano crystal screens. A ps4 hooked to one of those will look immensely better than on a standard 8bit 4k TV, but all of the SUHD Tv's sell for over 1k currently.

I'll be buying one but not yet. It's new so software bugs will need patching & developers need to patch their games to take advantage of it extra power, remember this thing isn't as weak as some nerds are making out, it can potentially deliver gtx980 level visuals & that card isn't weak even by the new gen of cards standards. I personally think it'll be when the next wave of big VR & AAA gamers comes out in January that this'll start to set itself apart from the PS4 standard, at the moment all your really getting if 4k support, better colour depth & some AA. This all may very well be deliberate as they don't want to hurt sales of the new PS4 slim by blowing it out the water with obviously better visuals right at launch, as with all things I won't jump to conclusions & will wait until January.

I'm not huge into gaming but I do a bit of it, which means I'm better off going with PC gaming because a computer can obviously do much more than just run games. It's also more fun to build a nice PC gaming setup instead of just buying a console and hooking it up to the TV

Now the way i feel the fact is that you have a console that can capture 4K with the Pro now what you can't capture is native 4k but bottom line you will get a resolution that is pretty dam close to native 4k with proper TV of course just like you do on PC but without a 4k monitor you won't get 4K as well as if the games doesn't support 4k then same applies. Bottom line hardware wise PS4 pro is most powerful console atm and allow you to play games at 1080p and with 60 fps without a hitch which is what majority of the gamers want any platform to provide no matter console or PC. A Gaming platform at $400 that can handle 1080p and a steady 60fps is a complete steal never mind other features and it reaching resolutions pretty dam close to native 4k. For the fact that it has more hard drive space and most likely faster hard drive , faster rams from what i hear too, better cpu and gpu that allows for better resolutions and frame rates all that is good enough reason to buy and recommend the Ps4 PRO regardless if you care about native 4k or 4k gaming or not hardware wise what your getting is worth the $400 dollar asking price all day and that is coming from someone who owns a high end gaming PC. Consoles are surely headed in right directions and in better place then it was last generation and the closest to PCs hardware wise it has ever been but of course fact that consoles are standardized means it still will never reach the potential a Pc can reach but then again thats fine because it doesn't have too people love consoles for exactly what it is and provides a platform that is easy to afford, play, and maintain and that is why they are standardized in first place.

The thing that gets me is that when you look at the games that came out at the beginning of the 360 and ps3 and look at the games that came out at the end....its night and day. Games looked and played much better at the end of those consoles. Now with xbox and playstation upgrading so fast...developers haven't even maxed out what current xbox one and ps4 can do. Put out more powerful hardware all you want but what's the difference if developers aren't given the time to use it? I just don't get it. Also look at a game like minecraft...one of the biggest selling games of all time and you don't even need that much power to play it. Now games like Ryse and The Order 1866 had great graphics but average gameplay at best. And if it's all about the power and graphics, indie games shouldn't even exists. Low budget games that only need Wii power to play...someone please help me understand.

Clay Riley well for one last gen games improved cause the way you programmed for it was very different so devs had to get used to it, where as this gen they are practically PCs so devs dont need time to get the most out of it. Secondly last gen consoles were alot more powerful at launch time then they were this gen. It was like if PS4 Pro was the base PS4 that released 3 years ago

Very similar to the Slim, but the Slim has several upgrades like form factor, better WiFi card, better cooling (much more quiet then the OG PS4 and the Pro), as well as several more! I hope you keep enjoying your Slim it’ll be a great console for years and heck even forever!

I own the original PS4 and a PC, I play the console for comfort and ease of use of dropping into a game with friends and use the PC for single player experiences and upping the immersion with graphical settings and mods, I just dont see what the point of this console is, it should have been the standard PS4 from release, I have a 4k tv but its not native so still no decent upgrade, Sony really fucked up with this tbh.

My PC from 2 years ago still kicks this system to the curb. Considering this is the "competition" in Sony's eyes for the spotlight on my desk it's pretty bad. I don't own a PS4 and I do not plan on getting this one either, it cannot do anything like my old reliable PC can. As far as cost goes sure my PC costs a heck of a lot more than this system but I think it was well worth it, I can play 4k if I wanted to get a 4k TV and I get 100+ fps in almost everything I play, I wouldn't trade that alone for the PS4 if I was choosing what to get now. You hear "elitists" calling the PC so grand and stuff, maybe they aren't wrong. So to anyone out there that wants a great experience gaming go for the PC, you will not regret it.

Pro has Sata 3 now. That is why you are seeing faster load times. The Pro also has 5GHz wireless now. That is a big deal compared to 2.4GHz only on the standard PS4.. Pro is meant for 4k tv's. If you don't have one. Don't even bother and stay with OG PS4. Uncharted 4 looks absolutely STUNNING with the higher resolution using a 4k tv. Yes its really only @1440p. But compared to 1080p. Doubling the resolution makes a big difference. Its very noticeable as I can compare in the other room @1080p tv vs 4k tv. Icing on the cake would have been @60 fps. But, I understand the limitations and that is just not possible with the Pro. At least not right now. MAYBE down the line. But, I severely doubt it. Pro is meant for the hardcore willing to upgrade and that have a 4k tv. To take full advantage of it.

Hey, Boogie. Can you clarify something for me, please? I haven't heard anyone discussing this point. For the PS4 Pro to run a game at native 4K yet still not read 4K discs, I'm speculating that the 4K option for these games is decompressed during the game's installation to the PS4 Pro's hard drive. It is the only logical conclusion. And if this is the case, then 4K games must run completely from the hard drive. They can't run from the disc because 4K discs are not supported. Do you know if this is how the 4K works when installing from a standard Blu Ray disc? Is it even possible to program a 4K game on a 1080p disc? This sounds illogical. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

I was an early adopter of 4k TV and am stuck with the HDMI 1.4 so 1080p @60hz it is sadly, buying a new 4k TV this week sometime although I know in 12months people are going to be pissed that HDMI 2.0 is outdated and incapable of rendering images from the Scorpio at full potential. The TV manufacturers are milking this shit. That said, even stuck at 1080p the PS4 Pro gives a much sharper image with better contrast, makes my BF1 experience just that little bit better when I can actually identify players from the terrain at range. Ultimately the PS4 Pro is still rendering in the higher images but only displaying at 1080p so you end up with something they term the Bullshot Image giving you near perfect 1080p without tearing and next to no artifacting. Still though, can't wait to pick up a new TV

And another thing is is that this system looks to be as big as the original xbox one model which to me is another bad thing cause what if I needed room for more consoles to set up to play more exclusive titles and everything. I got an xboxone a few months ago with The Division. And bought SSX and Mortal Kombat X ( downloaded). I've since played the latter 2 games a handful of times and put about 30 hours into The Division. But it seems that I may not be as into video games as I used to be. I haven't played any of my games in about a month and a half. I had previously had every Nintendo system from the Super Nintendo up to the Game Cube. When I think about it the last game before now that I had really been into was Metroid Prime for Game Cube. But I never kept up after the Wii. I do like the Xbox one for it's Netflix and KZbin ability and being able to control that from the game controller. I thought about buying Titan fall 2 looks good. But I really was a Nintendo fan boy. Not into all these dark games and war shooters. I may just have outgrown video games. I really do miss my Mario. I haven't played any of the Super Mario Galaxy games and the Nintendo Switch interests me for it's Mario and Zelda. Games. But honestly I think aside from maybe getting a game and playing it for a few weeks. I am defiantly not into video games as much as I was in the late 90 early 2000. That being said I still like your channel and like hearing about tech-console and computer/Mac. One more thing that I think would be a good topic for discussion: How many console gamers use their PS4 or X Box One strictly for gaming. Personally, I would prefer a console with more power all around that is focused only on games. I never use my console for anything other than gaming or PSN store. Sure, keep the interface, friends list, et al on the main menu, but ditch Netflix, Hulu, etc. I have a smart BRD player for watching movies and TV shows because I don't want to shorten my console's life by watching movies. I'm not the only one, believe me. Put a high-end CPU, graphics chipset, 32GB system memory, sound, and 5TB hard drive, and it's top-of-the-line graphics and high frame-rates all around. I'd pay $600 for such a console. This dream machine can't be too far into the future.

Hey boogie2988. I really wanted to ask you this personally because I myself have very bad anxiety and have panic attacks almost daily. I just recently bought a PSVR maybe 2 weeks and some change ago and I am experiencing some very odd side effects from using it. After about 2 days of use I noticed when I woke up in the middle of the night it felt like I was still in VR and I got really scared in the morning because my whole body felt very strange. It went away after a couple hours but I still feel really strange after a little over two weeks. I did try my VR out again a couple days ago and it made it a little worse. Have you experienced anything like this in your VR experience? I'm sorry I know this is long and you are very busy but I know I'm not the only one with this issue. I lovveeeeee VR but it's very stressing that it would make me feel symptoms of derealization.

A few of the games on the 4K mode are a bit jiddery & if they have a higher frame rate, you will end up keeping it there. ( kinda kills the whole "4K" thing) They do look stunning still on the lower res but steady frame rates. You have to see it to really get it. Once you do, you will absolutely want one.

I'm interested in the Pro because I don't own a PS4 yet, but because of the issues people are reporting with it, the fact I don't own a 4k tv, the fact that only a select few games are going to even take advantage of its improved hardware; much less its improved 1080p hardware, and the fact that I do the majority of my gaming on PC and Nintendo hardware, I'm second guessing it. To add to that, I just put together a new gaming PC and while it isn't the bleeding edge, it's pretty damn powerful. Furthermore, I'm a whole lot more interested in the Nintendo Switch then other gaming hardware atm and it's coming out very soon as well. Right now, PS4 Slims are being sold throughout the holidays for $250 or less, which is seeming like a better option for me considering I'll be doing the bulk of my gaming elsewhere on hardware that's more appealing to me anyways but also because for the majority of PS4 games don't take advantage of the Pro's hardware and the ones that do may not take advantage of 1080p features anyways. Then the added issues many user are reporting such as the audio and video going out.... I'm not sure if it's really worth it for me.
