@J P can you imagine Twisted Metal 2 online? Twisted Metal was the best offline multiplayer and was the most played game with my friends. Besides GoldenEye64 on Nintendo64 that is.

Understandable but lacking any understanding of the essence of games, which isn't understandable if you are in the video gaming industry. Although, I suppose if he is just looking at it in a business sense, the money these days are in multiplayer microtransaction games. But, Sony seems to be going in the single story narrative focused genre of games :-D So again isn't understandable why Jim Ryan would say that about his company and industry as a whole.

The Playstation Classic should have a soft reset with the controller. The actual playstation does. Hold the four shoulder buttons and prest start & select together.

I cant remember the source I heard this from but the Playstation Classic has no online connectivity which means no online multiplayer and no trophies. They are not adding any games after launch.

Sony will likely sell the dualshock controllers for the ps1 classic, separately, and they will cost a ridiculous amount, and they will only work in the ps1 classic. If they are planning on doing that, I think a smart business move would be to include digital codes with the dualshock controllers, for games that would need them, like Ape Escape, so people aren't just buying dualshock controllers for the games they already have.

Wish Sony would just do a virtual backwards compatible ecomarket like Microsoft, then I'll jump back in. I have a large library of PS1 games I would love to either get to or replay. Suikoden 1 & 2, Star Ocean: Second Story, Vagrant Story, Twisted Metal 2, Vigilante 8, Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve 1 & 2, In the Hunt, Thousand Arms, Wargames Defcon 1, Vandal Hearts 1 & 2 (love that blood mist), Alundra 1 & 2, Future Cop LAPD. Maybe if these were all in the PSmini I'd consider buying one lol

I think in a year or two the PS classic 2 will be out with dual shock controllers and games that feature those like Ape Escape and Ape Escape 2. I think thats the planned reason on why this classic is coming with the OG controllers.

Why do people have a problem with so many d pads I never understood it's a direction specific button that does its function when you press it the only one I can really understand the problem with is the Xbox 360 on that marshmallow pad. If someone can explain it would be appreciated

Wild Arms was a nice appetizer in the long wait for Final Fantasy VII, and it was actually decent, but not amazing. 2D world, 3D battles. Not as great as Suikoden, but was a huge step up from Beyond the Beyond as an early PS1 JRPG. An also ran.

I never owned analogue controllers on PS one. You don't need them for metal gear. Only ape escape is required. I pre ordered it, I'm hyped!

No Metal Gear, no Analog sticks, terrible D pad that I've always disliked. No, just no on the PS Classic for me. I wish they would have made better choices, or at least make it compatible with the old PS controllers with analog sticks and be able to play the discs of my old PS games.

Umm Actually.... PlayStation's D-Pad was the BEST in the industry and PS4's is even better! Xbox's was and still is the worst. Unplayable even.

They keep your saves hostage by not allowing you to back it up yourself, They created hardware you won't be able to use without the subscription, They had the emulated NES titles ready but needed to wait for more online titles to be available on the system. All of that to lure people into the most shameless cashgrab of this generation. Only modern Nintendo would do that. Great episode though :p

Note to self: never watch Gone Girl. Hell, you could probably buy a PSTV for quite a bit less than the PS Classic and play numerous PS1 games on a TV with a Dualshock 3 or 4 - the more I think about it, the more the PS Classic is a rip off. I imagine the PS Classic won't be able to connect on-line, because if it was going to it'd have an Ethernet port. I do like the Ratchet & Clank tie in comic, I read it every few years. From Justin's praise of the novels, sounds like I should read those DOOM novels. For Brad (was that his name?) I'd recommend playing the games he already owns yet hasn't played, instead of buying new games he won't necessarily get around to playing. Replaying old games is also great!
