When Hi-Fi Rush was sent over to Playstation, after the initial commotion about 3rd party blaa blaa, a lot of us understood HI-FI did not hit the way anyone probably would have hoped for, but none of us were shocked either and it didn't do anything ...at all .. when it went to playstation. We understood the Hi-Fi Rush and Tango situation... we also know that the Xbox playerbase, even half the size of Playstation, can and does show up for the games we care about and support. Starfield hit 15 million players shortly after a year of being out without Playstation.

@@inkdreaper874 oh yes. I still remember during the chip shortage when the supply of consoles was extremely low Sony decided to bundle a game with their playstation 5s. So if you wanted one of the consoles you had no choice but to buy some game you maybe didn't even want. It was effectively a stealth price increase which also helped inflate the sales numbers for the bundled games.

Sony has lost that fire the moment Last of Us came out in 2013. Driveclub was doomed to fail and its Studio was shut down in 2015 killing all expansions and its servers were shut down 4 years ago. Sony screwed up big time with Driveclub. Now Sony is releasing games no one wants like Foam Stars and Concord while ignoring the fans' cries for new Jak and Daxter, Resistance, Getaway, Bloodborne on PC, Killzone, Twisted Metal and many more IPs they own. Something else that bothers me about PS5 is the UI. I honestly feel like it's still the PSP UI, and I know it is a different XMB. It feels stuck and old. I've already said all the things I've disliked about Sony mid-PS3 era but the UI makes me feel like the PS3 days, the days I started to stop caring as much about PS.

Not really an identity Crisis the reason Playstation is what it is today, is because COD was their multiplayer backbone, that's why they could focus solely on 3rd person single player with stealth elements COD covered the lion share of development costs. I often make this point about Live Service games. If you as a studio are attempting to get into live service games, one of your direct competitors is Riot Games. Do you think you have the resources or experience to compete with Riot? Bungie couldn't even do it by themselves. They actively missed the warning signs that anyone who was familiar with the rise of Riot Games would have seen.

I got a PS4 for Gravity Rush 2 and I also loved it... but damn the bloody fact that they don't get GR2 to run at 60fps is criminal.

I've grown up in the (for lack of better terms) PlayStation Ecosystem starting with my Uncle's PlayStation at my Grandparent's house. When I was about 2 years old (2001) my Brother and I got a PS2 and in 2006 with some help from Children's Memorial Hospital located in Chicago Illinois (I had cancer and through a program I was eligible for we got the money to get one) my family got $600 dollars in Best Buy gift cards to get a PS3. The first console I bought with my own money was a PS4 and I somehow managed to secure a PS5 preorder. To me the biggest problem with PlayStation as of right now is that they have abandon basically everything that made them as big as they are today. What I think they need to do is slow down, look back at their legacy IP, either Remaster them or Remake them, gage the reception to those titles, and bring them back.

The big epic 40hrs+ titles like HFW or GOW and then a smaller team making something like a 15hr campaign style game that they can churn out in a year or two. Here’s the thing…. PlayStation never had an identity in the first place. They have an IP that will do well and they will do one of two things. Push remakes and remasters until everyone is fed up with said IP…. Or Completely forget the IP even exists and only mention it is passing or as content for a different game and IP. But really the real problem is most of the well known IPs that PlayStation has are not owned by them and sooner or latter the old IPs that made them show up on other platforms. Also the whole PSN botch.

It really does seem like Sony has become ground zero for fanboys and contrarians. I say “seem” because that’s not really true, these people are the minority with loud voices. They don’t truly matter, they’re only useful to obtain great entertainment out of bullying them. Stellar Blade, Astro Bot, Space Marine 2, Metaphor, and Black Myth proved that people are fed up with the safe formula from modern triple A gaming. Call me crazy but I think we might actually see a shift in the wind. However I’m not going to get my hopes up, I’ve been wrong before. They should just making the PSN thing an optional deal. Then offer some skins or free currency with the game for signing in. Even if that won't get every gamer, it will get a lot. Then they could still sell games on Steam everywhere and get more PSN accounts

They don't want to make it optional due to needing to inflate those PSN numbers. Sony's value dropped by $10 billion due to PlayStation. They also lost a ton of money due to games like Concord. They're trying whatever they can to appease the shareholders.

So I have some thoughts on this. Long story short Playstation are only selling their PC releases in 33% of countries due to PSN being unavailable in the other 66%. Playstation are prioritising selling games to 33% of the audience with access to a PSN sign up. I believe this is because Playstation value those potential MAUs in 33% of the world over SELLING GAMES to the other 66% of the world. This says a LOT about how far behind Xbox that Playstation believes it is in terms of the new gaming landscape....namely the platform war (both publisher's release software elsewhere, both have/had services available on other hardware, both offer streaming services, both offer subscription services etc). Playstation already lost the generation (MAUs are their own metric for success as per Kenichiro Yoshida) and they know it. It's either that or.... Playstation is deliberately sabotaging itself for no good reason? 😂

Sony having so many IPs they never even used and said "We don't have enough original IPs" is what keeping me from buying a PS5. I went with Asus ROG Ally instead, so I have another handheld system along with my Switch.

I sold my useless PS5 and went full PC. I don't even miss my catalogue of games, as it took me 5 minutes to get them all back for free sailing the high seas. Sony peaked during the first half of the PS4 gen for me, and since then it's just been downhill from there.

I would be annoyed if they brought back certain IPs like Jak and Daxter. The story ended and I want it to stay that way unless it’s a new story with new characters in the distant future with occasional cameos to past games. That said there are plenty of great IPs they could bring back easily as Alex said.

You can't have it. Instead you're getting a new IP called SadMan. It starts out with a 30 million dollar CG scene of a character looking into the mirror. Then after 20 minutes of this, he says "What...what have I become?". The player is then prompted "Press X to sad". The character has a single tear fall from his eye. Then 2.5 hours of credits rolls. The post credit stinger is the same guy but this time....he's in front of a DIFFERENT mirror! That's the sequel. Please look forward to it!

Sony seems to not realize that games are supposed to be entertainment instead of art. This year they did make some movements towards entertainment. Sad thing is I didn’t care for Astro Bot’s Playroom, and Horizon; the new offerings weren’t interesting.

I love how console players say because we sold so many consoles that playstation is number 1. First, so many people have pcs and not consoles. If more people having the hardware is king moble phone kill pc and console. Third, I have 2 PS5s and a ps5 pro. One is for my brother, who is a truck driver and does not play that often. One is boxed up and the third is not played that often because I have a really good gameing pc. That means there are less ps5 players than you think.

I personally enjoy the current exclusive. I’m not going to act like I don’t love the new god of wars and for me Spider-Man is my PERSONAL #1 favorite ip off the entire exclusive brands portfolio. Yes there are plenty games objectively better than Spider-Man, I know this but since Spider-Man is my favorite hero of all time Sonys games have been a delight for me. But I definitely will agree it would be cool to get some of those older platformers back like Jak and sly! I wouldn’t even mind a few remasters, god of war Greek mythology for example, and that symphon filter idea sounds very good now that you mention it. I absolutely would bring back some games from PlayStations history. Right now it feels like they are creating a new history and I feel it’s absolutely unnecessary to forget the classics. We can play them all through the ps plus but lately ive been playing the games from that catalog then most of their current ps5 exclusives. So yeah, I hear Alex on this one, bring back some of those old ips
