Great device in general. Not so much for racing games. Doesn't steer anywhere near as good as a regular controller. Played GT7 and ACC. Apart from that it's great. They've improved remote play to where it's good now. No need for hard wiring ps for a good connection. All in all, id say the portal is a success for £200. I own a fair few handhelds. Legion go and portal are my go to devices.

Sorry to hear about your experience! Yeah connecting to the public wifi's can be a little tricky. I usually use my Hotspot most of the time. For now we just have to wait until sony releases a dedicated handheld to play offline ect... I'll upload a video if things get better over time with connecting to wifi

Thanks for testing it out in that establishment. Discount tire doesn't seem like they put wifi speeds (for customers) at the fortfront. Next time use your phone's Hotspot if possible. Hope this helps and have a litty week 🫡🔥🎮

Hey Cosmic, it’s a common question! The PS5 can only do one task at a time so If you want to use the portal and play a game. The PS5 will only be allowed to stream the game to your portal. I’d recommend purchasing another PS5 (maybe second hand) if you or someone else want to watch Netflix.

Before this update there was only one way and that's to turn off the portal and place it on the charger. That was the only way to see it until this update. If you were able to see the % in the control center before this update then your one lucky portal owner! 😂

Update: After fiddling around and a PS5 restart, finally got my portals with different profiles to connect to my PS5 Slim. Here's the steps I did, primary Portal with my main profile need to update to 3.0 and re-login again. Then I updated my 2nd Portal with my daughter's profile and do the same. Finally after a PS5 restart, both can login to their profile remote play. Hope you guys find this useful.

Haven't had any stick drift problems. I avoid this by washing my hands and drying them before picking up the device. Same goes with the dual sense controller. No snacks or greasy chips near my controllers.

There is a tear down vid on YT that shows the sticks can be replaced by a simple quick release plug connection no solder required. So they have tight about it. old ones out new ones in. So not such a worry. BUT getting the screen off without breaking it to allow access behind it. Not so easy looking😮

Hey Jessie great questions, your ps5 will be on during remote play sessions but there’s a setting on the PS5 where you disable the monitor/ tv from turning on when the ps5 wake up from rest mode to connect to the portal. also the portal can’t stream anything but games so yes, you’d have to stop playing the portal if someone wanted to stream tv shows on the PS5. Hope this helps!

The only reason to buy the portal in my opinion would be if your TV gets used by someone else regularly. For example, my toddler playing Disney movies all the time on the TV I use for my PS5. Using the portal away from home has a noticeable input lag as well. In case you’re wondering.. I currently play: Helldivers 2, COD, and Crew Motorfest. I also have 1 GIG internet wired connected to my system. Download spd showing on my system has me somewhere around ~700mbs.

It was great when I was traveling. Great design. Played Jedi survivor with no issues, home WiFi and iPhone hotspot. I was over 2k miles away from my hardwired PS5. Still not great for games like Warzone, WiFi or hotspot. Also, bring back PlayStation Vue tv service!

The fact that the joysticks are still trashhh... Brand new, old it don't matter. Don't be like me I got one and the left joystick was trashhh straight out the box.
