Amazing tutorial, Cindy! I made a cheat file recently and I have one tip to share: if you type a cheat wrong in the cheat file, all the cheats below it won't work, but only the ones below it. So if some of the cheats are not working but others are, just go through the file from bottom to top until you find a cheat that's working. The cheat below it will be the one mispelled.

Here's an idea. I would love a video explaining and testing out every single testingcheatsenable mailbox and sim pie menu option. My aliases are even shorter - I have M for move objects on for example, and m- to turn it off. I'd just like to add my two pieces of regular advice if people are having trouble with creating a file: 1. make sure the file is a CHEAT file and that your computer hasn't added on the .txt extension for you. It does that sometimes because you're using Notepad. Sometimes you have to turn on the option in Windows Explorer to show the file type. You can change it then - make sure it's '.cheat' at the end and not '.txt'. 2. watch the spellings of your cheats. If you make a mistake the game stops reading the file at that point so no other cheats after that point will work either.

Thank you for making this video. A long time ago I came across split level garages, and not only did that person give a tutorial on that, but "since you'll be using thes codes a lot, it'll be easier if you do this..." and of course, that was making the cheat file with aliases. There were some things I really didn't like about 3, and never got 4. Decided to give it another whirl... which came with the obligated multiday of finding and downloading mods and not even playing the game. 🤥 There are still some mods I remember but couldn't find. I had my own cheat file way back when, wasn't as comprehensive, as I only added as I needed them during construction. Even after all of these years I remembered that I had a file that I already enabled cheats and shortcuts (aliases) for the codes. I'm glad you have the video titles as you do. I think if it was named: Cheat Code aliases! my google of Short cheat codes wouldn't have worked.

One thing to note is if people make or modify a downloaded cheat file and type in a cheat wrongly, that cheat and ALL the cheats that come after it will stop working. I also notice you don't have any of the uintProp number cheats that most of us have, are you using a different method? Also here is a fun random cheat for anyone who, like me, lives in a country where cars drive on the left it's "boolProp carsOnRight false" this will change the side of the road the cars in hood view will drive on. :)

This video isn’t particularly helpful to me, as I never use cheats in the Sims 2. Maybe I should start though. However I wanted to comment (to help your algorithm) and say that I really appreciate your thumbnails. SO MANY Sims content creators have such cringe thumbnails, with mouths agape and eyes super wide. It makes me not want to click play on their videos. Your thumbnails are typically just your pretty smile, and they are pleasant (ha) to see compared to most other content creators. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Speaking of changing game files, I run The Sims 3 on Linux using Proton, and for some reason the launcher doesn't work right, but thankfully is not actually needed to start the game, so I, along with most other Linux simmers, have to run a version with some of the exe files renamed to trick Steam into staring the game without the launcher, not really related to the video, just a weird Sims modification thing

Yes, you can shorten any cheat that exists by making an alias for it. The cheat code is "changelotzoning apartmentbase" so I would make an alias called "apt" or something. Will work perfectly if you create the alias correctly!

Yes, you can shorten them. You just can't auto-enable them like cheats that can be turned on/off.
