This was really interesting, thank you! I have just purchased my first Chanel bag - a preloved Chanel Trendy in black lambskin. (It hasn't arrived yet!) This bag is prone to sagging I believe because of its shape - would standing it on its side be the best way of storing it do you think? And do you have any advice on protecting the Mona Lisa pocket when wearing it? I've noted all your advice on the chain and zips. Thanks again:)

I have purchased a couple Double flap style bags. They definitely DO NOT work for me. Period! I sold them as they are easily misshapen and I do not like the additional flap inside. I prefer the older style with just the one flap. Makes life easy and I actually use my bags. Why spend so much Money on a bag and then have to be so careful....... Not for me. I LOVE MY bags and if they look loved and worn, it's because they are so! Oh and I store my bags laying on their backs. Not standing up.

Cool video. Great information. I have a lot of bags (currently trying to size down though). They are not luxury, but all quality leather - lots are quite old. A few bought second hand so are missing dust bags etc. I always use old pure cotton pillowcases for storage and, like you say, some of the chains do pose problems when attempting storage. Some of mine haven’t seen the light of day for years … I really should try and slim down the little used collection. Worst story is, a moth must have got inside ???? and it actually ate through the stitching and part of the top layer of leather. Not a large area, but I knew it was there. Hence, I am now very picky about how I store my bags and shoes. I chuck mothballs into the bottom and shelves of wardrobes, under the bed, in the drawers … once bitten !!!!!

Oh my gosh 😱 your bag being eaten is awful!! I would be keeping my bags in lockdown 😂

On 2.55 leather black how often do you condition it and do you recommend coach leather conditioner? I did see a classic 2.55 that had a little bit of white or not white but dull looking area new from the store, and one sales associate said, use coach, leather conditioner and it would be fine. I don't know.

Hi there, Great video thanks! Late to this vid but questions, for my WOC, it looks a lot less "structured" than yours. I have a base shaper in there that makes it look like the shape of yours. I also keep it in there to help the chain from indenting the bottom. Thats ok? For my classic flap, I do have the chain pulled though, but its pulled though on both sides if that makes sense, not just to one side. I don't use my classic flap that often, last time I used it was a year ago so I am wondering if its ok to keep this way. As for the rest of the chain resting on the bag on the top, I take the felt cloth they gave and I lay it over the top of the bag between the rest of the chain on it to create a barrier. Is this ok? I do all the other storage methods too. I would like to use my chanel bags more, but having to constantly create all these barriers and make sure things arent touching makes me almost never use them because the hassle and stress it gives me to put away haha. I just reach for my YSL or Prada bags now and dont worry.

I store my bags in bags with the strap away in the box with the lid off for air.. but on their back. I agree storing them upright will case saging over time.

I've seen the method for storing on the back of the bag! I would be concerned about flattening quilts. If you haven't noticed any issues, that's awesome!
@AllthePrettyPurses3 жыл бұрын
Bargainhuntingblonde has suggested storing the bag standing on its side too. I'm not sure if this could cause structure loss in the long term, but I don't know if it would be any worse than having it stand on its bottom. At least storing it on its side, you can switch sides. Has anyone, anywhere ever gotten that inner flap snap to actually snap? Empty, full, I've never been able to get it to actually snap.
@je-suis_Tati3 жыл бұрын
I personally would not stand it on the side at least not for the classic flaps. They are much heavier and different from the Diana bag. I can’t speak much about the diana as I never owned one but, I can say the chain and leather is less heavier so the side standing up method might be ok. As per the inner flap, lol yes I have, in fact I recently bought some flaps and they inner flaps came all closed from boutique. I can tell you it’s a challenge lol.
@classicswithaquirk3 жыл бұрын
I switch sides often! That's definitely important. And I only store my lighter, single flaps on their sides. I really enjoy taking care of these bags and kind of find it fun to learn the best ways to do so. (As for the snap, I feel you... It is SO impractical.)

It's a great method to keep their shape and puff! I've never stored upside down though. What bags do you do what with?
@lesliecraven30872 жыл бұрын
@@classicswithaquirk I have an old Louis Vuitton bucket bag that I stuff and then put upside down on a hat stand. I think it takes the pressure off the canvas so it doesn’t start sagging at the bottom or sides. I also have a Chanel Gold metallic lamb skin pleaty bucket bag it’s mini. Lightly stuffed upside down on a hat stand and then there’s no strain on the straps or the sides. There’s no feet so it shouldn’t sit flush on anything or at least that’s what I think.. ha Both these bags are round so they can’t lie on their side or they get a crush mark

@@classicswithaquirk ❤️🥰. Please give me your opinions on buying those special satin pillows from Etsy for bag inserts. I’ve seen them and they look interesting. Also your opinion on Apple guard for Vachetta ….. all my precious Louies I did nothing to, just beat the hell out of them and they were great for years and years. Now everyone talks about all this special care we have to give our canvas bags 😳😏
@classicswithaquirk3 жыл бұрын
I haven't treated my LV with apple guard. I see the merits of it, for people who want to avoid water marks but it doesn't stop patina. I just haven't myself 😅 I am a bit leery of using fabric inserts because it just takes a little water or mildew on the insert to turn into a musty mess. Maybe if you were using the bags really regularly so they were given breaks? But I find air paper a bit easier to deal with.
