You can't tell anything about someone when you first see apart from how they look, so I feel it's natural for looks to be a major factor for most people when they're younger... and if you're not particularly analytical (like Penny) it probably takes a while before you realize exactly what you're doing wrong... I feel like she never stopped thinking Leonard was a great guy, she just felt it wasn't the right situation (which, right or wrong, is a perfectly reasonable thing to do)... and often times when someone finds new qualities they really like about a gf/bf and it ends badly often the knee jerk reaction is to revert to what you're used to...

That’s because the last four seasons of TBBT are GARBAGE. Penny became a TERRIBLE woman/person/wife…not unlike her actress. The one episode that made me want to punch both Penny and the writers (for being on drugs), was the stupid episode where she accuses him of taking her for granted, and in the end, the dumbass solution is a shitty relationship agreement that is never brought up again. Like, WTF? Sheldon’s stupid habits and traits are annoying as hell, and him being the solution pissed me off a lot. Also like I said, what kind of solution was that!? They don’t even mention it ever AGAIN! Can I recommend something to you that I think you’ll like because unlike in the show, Penny ACTUALLY loves Leonard in it, and also, Leonard does something that makes an impact on both her and her family’s life?

That’s like me asking if you’re a vegan cause you don’t think that beefy hotdogs are perfect, and even if I was gay would that invalidate my opinion in any way if it were true? You’re entitled to your own opinions and preferences when it comes to women but imho Penny is definitely not a “10/10”, at the very least she’s not at this point in the series. At this point she makes significantly less money than Leonard (she worked as a waitress), her acting career was going nowhere and she’s basically a mess both emotionally and financially; there’s no way she’s a 10/10. I’d argue that she’s a lot better towards the end of the series but she’s still not a 10/10, point being is that in this instance Leonard is definitely “the catch” in this relationship and Penny’s father recognized that too which is why he asked Leonard to not give up on her, he wants Penny to have a good life along with his future grandkids having a stable living and he knew that Leonard would be able to provide that to her unlike the idiots she used to date and sleep around with.

Ngl this was the episode that made me disgusted with Penny as a woman combined with the episode where Sheldon was going on a date with Amy (their 1st ever date I believe) and Penny came along and Sheldon estimated the amount of guys Penny was sleeping with on a regular basis in which Penny shamefully admitted that the number was much higher and then Amy shamelessly asks if she’s a slut. It wasn’t just the amount of men she’s slept with but also the type and quality of guys that are heavily implied that she was easy with: she was out of control in both her life and herself and between Leonard and Penny in the situation Leonard is definitely “the catch” in their relationship and not Penny, her dad was able to pick up on that easily hence why he asks Leonard not to give up on her.

This is one of the few moments that actually show the reality of this relationship, Leonard is not lucky to have someone like penny in his life, Penny is lucky to have someone like Leonard in her life.
