For thousands of years, Florida has been shaped in reshaped by powerful hurricanes. Urban development was never supposed to be there. water always wins. Best thing I ever did was to move the hell out of that beleaguered state.
@Dharmarenee
@Dharmarenee 2 сағат бұрын
Texas is the same way and they keep building in already dense areas and the flooding keeps getting worse. I want to move but there is no state immune to either man-made or natural disasters. If it isn’t problems with flooding,fire,hurricanes,tornados its dams failing,chemical plants exploding ,power outages and bridges crumbling. America is failing and nothing is being done. Our infrastructure frailties makes us ultra vulnerable to those who wish us harm.

FEMA is always there. I used to be a "storm bug", this is not what we called ourselves. Anyway we cleaned up after tornados and floods and such. We, (hundreds of workers) worked for various construction companies. There were companies from everywhere who would come to clean up. Roofers, tree climbers, forklift drivers, heavy equipment operators. All of whom were contracted out by FEMA. We followed the weather, tracked storms and as soon as one hit we would call whichever company we were going to work for and find out when to pack up and leave. FEMA and first responders ( cops, firemen, air rescue, etc. etc. were always there first to send help for the people and assess damages, costs, and meeting with other government entities. Then plumbers, electricians, city workers came in. Last comes the afore mentioned companies after the owners have negotiated contracts with FEMA. It's a whole process, can't just anyone run over to a disaster area and do shit.

There were a lot, particularly inland, but now they're almost the norm. Right up to the water, too. I'm sure the reason why is that the cost of living is no longer dirtcheap like it was in Florida years ago - but the wages and average income hasn't gone up much, so where are those people going to live? They have stay in double-wide coffins and pray a tornado doesn't come through or a flood doesn't carry them off. IN FLORIDA! And do those modular home communities and trailer parks at least have communal tornado shelters that everyone can use? Hell no! You have the freedom to die in Florida. To those Americans who are in denial that global warming is bs, better start rethinking that notion. Record weather, record tornadoes, record flooding....come on use that thing we call "common sense ". Hopes and prayers to those who are affected, coming from a friend in the north🇨🇦

This is horrible. My prayers go out to ALL the states affected by these last two hurricanes. Even after replacing the damaged drywall and insulation, there will still be a "Black Mold" problem that will cause health issues further on down the line. Mold thrives in dark damp areas, I've been through this in Michigan. I had to not only abandon the house I bought, I had to completely re-stick the entire house (replace the 2x4 framing, the cillplates, even remove the contaminated dirt in the crawl space (Michigan basement) it's devastating.

If your in areas that may possibly become flooded. Start getting your pets and animals out now. Once the water starts it's so fast. Don't take the chance of losing a pet inside and out. You'll have only a few minutes. You won't be able to find them. Prevent a tragedy. Make arrangements and start getting pets and animals out early
