Hey man I would like to say thank you I just did this to my 2007 H3 and it worked after replacing my battery and alternator.You earned yourself a thumbs up keep up the good work
@GrantsPassTVRepair4 жыл бұрын
Did you coat the contacts with conductive paint of clean them? I no longer suggest the conductive paint unless it's the only option.

Grants Pass TV Repair I relieved the charge on the two capacitors with a screwdriver bit. Sorry I commented on the wrong video.

Some Times, either from changing a Battery OR a low Battery***... I found the real culprit was originally a residual voltage* left in the two capacitors* on the circuit board* in the driver's door module*, resulting in a default code in the body computer..that is why door locks and window do not work...short the two capacitors out and reassemble. .everything works***p.s. I just had to do this again now*** as I had drained the battery to the point I could barely start it..and the window was half down..no door locks...once again *** It worked!!!

Thanks for the video! my 06 H3 74k miles driver window and door locks stopped working. I rubbed the pcb board contacts with 1500 grit paper and that for now fixed the driver window and door lock. Interesting to me: the door lock chimed when I pushed lock but the locks did not move
@ccjcadventures26616 жыл бұрын
that only worked for a bit. just now i noticed that if i manually push on the rubber control the window works and door lock operates. I rolled up a tiny ball of duct tape and dropped it in where the white pushrods are thus increasing the distance they push up and it is now working. btw the whole drivers master window switch is available on amazon. amzn.to/2SgTEMr jbc

@@ccjcadventures2661 it isays that part is not compatible with a 2006 H3(which i own). My H3 just started experiencing this problem. Do i get the unit out by popping it out with a flat head screwdriver?
@ccjcadventures26616 жыл бұрын
@@Sighlense I use plastic pieces that are used in Stereo installations screwdriver will work being careful not to mess up the arm rest it's a little tough to pry out but we'll come it's a spring loaded keeper

@@ccjcadventures2661 i got it, thanks. Mine had two metal clips on each end. Looks to be two small plastic tabs that broke off but the unit goes back in snug. Ordered another lock control unit for it. Fingers crossed that the original one has just gone bad.

I have used that paint before, but don't remember the brand and found the same result as you where it does not last very long. The foil idea sounds like it might be worth a try.

One gentleman in the comment section told me that sanding the carbon impregnated rubber will restore bad pads, but since I have seen some that no amount of cleaning would help I wonder if that works in all cases.
@kwd578 жыл бұрын
If it is impregnated rubber, sanding may help to expose fresh carbon.
@GrantsPassTVRepair8 жыл бұрын
It's certainly worth a try.

OK, here's hoping you take this as the constructive criticism it's intended to be. While that paint works well on the contacts of the PCB you really shouldn't be using it on the rubber pads for remotes or as it turns out, car in-door controls. The thing is that the contactors on the rubber part are infused with carbon and only need to be buffed off with a piece or paper. If you take normal notebook or printer paper and wipe it across the carbon pads it takes the shine off them and they usually work fine after that. I learned about this back when I still had an original Nintendo as the controllers would fail from heavy use. It works like a charm every time. The contacts on the PCB are a different story entirely. They paint that stuff over the PCB contacts so it doesn't gloss over the pads on the rubber part so much creating a longer lasting device. I just thought I'd clear that up to save you some headaches later down the road. I'm sure I don't have to tell you what a mistake a layer of conductive dust is for electronics so I'm not going to say anything more about that. As for this video, well it's "diversify or die" right? I can definitely understand why your working on door switches. Happy Newyears and cheers man.

Thank you. I always welcome welcome constructive criticism. I just did an experiment by sanding one of the rubber pads in a remote control to see if it would prevent the connection from working, and you appear to be correct, but I'm wondering about all the previous instances when I encountered this kind of problem, and no amount of cleaning would restore them. I had better make an update to this video and mention what you said while asking others for additional feedback on their experiences. Thank you!

I have a question. My door locks and windows work fine on my 2008 H3. But the switches no longer glow. It has happened to both doors and the temperature control knob and air flow knob (I'm not sure what to call them). How do I fix it?
@ExStaticBass8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure as I've never worked on an H3 before. You might try searching specifically for that kind of repair here on KZbin though. I'm almost certain that someone has had the same issue and likely made a handy video of it.
