Doc, pls add Ferritin iron test to the list as high iron is an issue these days as well as low iron (many seen in vegans). High iron overload has similar symptoms as low iron. Iron overload can be caused by a genentic mutated gene Hemochromatosis (in EU spelled Haemochromatosis). Major health issue with both high or low iron. Processed food has a ton of iron added especially cereals which has 2 to 3 times the daily iron requirement. add liver test also liver enzymes and a fibroscan. The liver is one of the most important organs...without a healthy liver we die. Most citizens these days have sick livers that are driving their sickness all over their bodies and will cause an early death. Doctors ignore the liver and talk about "heart health"...overlooking the liver. Our food, drinks, air, water etc are all full of poison which ends up sitting in the liver causing sickness and liver damage. Liver health needs to be talked about more and understood by primary doctors.

My grandmother was in a nursing home to regain strength after a relatively brief hospital stay to get rid of fluid build up due to congestive heart failure. She was on a low sodium diet due to the congestive heart failure (which they obviously over did). At the nursing home, she complained of nausea for multiple days with it increasing over the days (they ignored it and gave her something to settle her stomach but no blood tests), she finally had a seizure, was moved back to the hospital and passed away. Primary cause of death was hyponatremia (low sodium), secondary: congestive heart failure. If your loved one is on a low sodium diet and complaining of increasing nausea, insist blood tests be done and when they ignore you, continue to insist until they finally give in just to get you to shut up.

Outstanding information and I concur. I would like to add something if you don't mind. When my mother was in and out of s cardiac rehab facilities, I noticed a trend. Sodium levels dangerously low and that is because the rounding doctors in these facilities dumb down their patients with SSRIs. When a patient has a low sodium level, it is imperative that the reinduction of sodium should be at a very slow pace. Otherwise there could be neurological complications. I would say 80% of the facilities were prescribing antidepressants. This angers me greatly. In addition to your narrative, I would include magnesium. Magnesium levels need to be at 2.0. most doctors do not check for magnesium. And when they do, they see a value of 1.6. it automatically want to put in a pacemaker. Atrial fibrillation. This is another example of a unnecessary revenue stream. And always check ferritin levels. I am trying to get the word out to family practitioners here in the United States to check ferritin levels. As you know, doc, high ferritin levels can wreak havoc on the liver/ pancreas, /heart /spleen/ and so on. Most doctors miss hemochromatosis and polycythemia. When the blood is at a high viscosity, it can also wreak havoc on your heart valves. I see a lot of valve(s) regurge in patients that have high RBC, hematocrit, and hemoglobin. I'm sorry that I jump in so much, but I look at things through a surgeons view. Sorry for the grammar errors but I trust you understand. I'm using my voice to text feature and it is not perfected. I'm on my phone and I don't have time to correct everything. Thanks again for your very accomplished service as a physician.

I had low Sodium levels at 129 & 128 & my GP Dr in the UK didn't tell me or state how serious it was. I trusted her so didn't realise it was that abnormal. I had so many classic symptoms that were overlooked for over 9 months. I ended up in hospital where they left me in A & E for 16 hrs. Went down to 125 initially. Never gave me the Sodium Chloride IV of 1 & a half litres. Got dreadful muscle cramps in legs, violently sick etc. Nobody believed me on the ward that it wasn't given to me IV. They nearly finished me off! I was not taking in enough salt or enough protein. I started getting the symptoms again & asked for a blood test & was told by a GP Dr that all my results were normal. I wanted to get a print out & check it. I now knew what it was meant to be. It was 129! I now take Celtic Sea Salt throughout the day to help.

Not disparaging the good doctor as he gives great tips to safeguard one’s health and I often take his advice. He’s one of the good docs for sure. But short of taking a wrecking ball to your health by living hard and fast by drinking, smoking , eating to excess and being about as active as a slug, not to mention crapping out on the genetics lottery, we all live to roughly the same general lifespan anyway. I think one of the worst things we can do is obsess about our health beyond a general wellness lifestyle , thus creating an unhealthful and unhelpful stress that does us no good.

I worry about Doctors’ totally relying on blood tests and NICE’s figure ranges. I said in 2020 there was something going on with my thyroid. I’ve had hypothyroidism for over 30 years. The blood tests took 18 months to catch up with my ‘feeling’. Now bloods are showing TSH levels fluctuating from hypo to hyper and back again. Every time I have a blood test, I have a doctor whose job it is to telephone everyone with an abnormal blood test that day. They are only reading that one blood test and simply adjust the medication. I’ve had to put a halt to that and demand a f2f with MY GP, because clearly, it needs more investigation. Secondly, I’ve needed B12 injections every 12 weeks for 25 years. The OK range is different to Australia and the USA. You’re allowed a much lower count in this country. I’m now starting to get peripheral neuropathy, but doctors just say ‘your bloods are fine’. So basically, doctors now only treat our blood, regardless of what is going on at cellular level. Neither will I accept a response of ‘it’s your age’ when I have a medical issue’, I always ask ‘…and what would you diagnose if I wasn’t this age?’ Ageism is as unacceptable as racism, but it happens without recourse on a daily basis. As I age, I have less and less confidence in the NHS (the institution, not its’ workforce) and its’ ability to keep us safe.
@maggiemoo03284 ай бұрын
I now have my blood work done at Medichecks so that I can get T3, T4, FT3 and FT4 tests which were something I couldn’t and still can’t get on the NHS. I take Natural Desiccated Thryoid medication and have done for about 6 years. I lost weight and felt better, but the damage had been done by incorrect medication dosing and I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy in 2011. The doctors absolutely HATE that I’ve taken control of my symptoms and meds, but that’s their tough luck, not mine 😅

@theaustralianconundrum4 ай бұрын
@@keepingitreal618 Huge? No way. Either way, the term alcoholic was made up by Americans. Do you call someone who eats too much calories in food a day a foodaholic? Or someone who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day a smokeaholic? Of course not. Yes I am chemically dependent in so far as I cannot miss one day without going through withdrawal symptoms and I have gone through at least two dozen of them and it's just vile even with my GP's advice and Diazepam supplementation. The lowest I'll do every 24 hours is a 750ml bottle and the most I've done in 24 hours is 4 litres and that was one experience I don't want to repeat!

Hi Dr Suneel, My dad age 84 has heart failure and kidney issues. He takes x3 Furesimide and 25mg spirolactone amongst other pills. His feet are still very swollen, he has lack of mobility because he fell two years ago and fractured his femur. He has it pinned and plated and now it has to come out in Oct as it gives him too much pain, the screw is digging in. I am hoping he gets more mobile after removal of the components then his feet may get a bit better. His salts go to 131, 132 sometimes and they have to reduce the diuretics every now and then, then they go back to normal. The heart failure nurses tell my dad to eat a pack of salted crisps a day or add extra salt.
