Hey, I'm American born and raised in the sticks of Ohio and I love 1920's and 30's music, movies...everything! I play the organ and believe it or not these tunes sound great on the home electronic organs of the 60's and 70's. I play a Wurlitzer 4500 which was produced in 1964'...I was produced in 1965.

There's a lot of band doing good recreations of the music of the late 1920s, but this is one of the very few examples I have seen/heard of a band doing a truly good modern performance in the style of 1922/23. Good show!

Absolutely beyond comprehension! Dare I say it: they're better than the originals!

Wow! There are several contemporary bands that do a good emulation of the hot dance music of the late 1920s, but this is by far the best re-creation I've seen of an early 1920s hot dance band. And Havelka's antics behind the drums are absolutely wonderful!

Heh -just enjoy the music...they certainly do!!!! Great hot dance music from the 20's played in exactly the right manner.

And is that drummer ever having a good time! If I held the stick between my teeth like that I'd be in a mess. The chin on the face of the saxophone player is awesome. All you see of the sousaphone is the instrument. Somebody is hiding in there.

He sure is and what makes me mad is that I am an American and no band I have ever heard here even comes close to the authenticity of this band playing 1920’s jazz. Why is it a band from Czechoslovakia can play better more authentic American jazz of the 1920’s than any band here?

@lindyhoppers Ironic ain't it that America's great artistic and cultural contribution to the world finds its biggest fans in Europe and Japan...you SHOULD be indignant. I used to play this kind of music myself, can barely find anyone in my own country who appreciates it...

What an honor! Do you any have photos of his band, or any of his instruments? "Pleasure Mad" was his first recording for OKeh in 1924 as you may probably know.
@bobbobato12 жыл бұрын
While the OPSO is sometimes too corny for my taste its the only modern band that convincingly recreates the original sounds of the 1920s. This isn't very different from Charlie Creath's "Pleasure Mad.
