I had 1 ltr of bloody fluid removed. Cytology said no cancer cells seen. I'm a 72 y/o fairly athletic woman who trains jiu-jitsu 2x week and I have great cardio. Suddenly I'm short of breath during jiu-jitsu or walking up stairs. I'm wondering if a car accident I had could have caused a tear in my pulmonary area and a slow leak?

Road traffic accidents causing chest trauma can lead to blood in pleural space but that usually manifest immediately. Bloody pleural fluid with no history of acute trauma needs careful workup to diagnose the cause.

What if the fluid is jelly? then doctor's unable to find out the cause?
