Hi Magdad . I Pick The Matte Finish. I Like The Look. 1948 That's Cool ! Old Is Great. 2 Weeks Ago I Picked Up A 1960 Garcia Mitchell 300 ! Today I Got A 1959 Garcia Mitchell 300 ! I Have More Than 3 So I'm A Collector. $12 for The 1960 & $15 Dollars For The 1959 ! I'm Very Happy . They Will Be in A Clear Plastic Shoe Box Modified With A Homemade Separator Petition. As I Want To Preserve Them. They Are Both in Great Shape ! I Already Have One I Fish With. I Am Sitting Here Listening to A Great Grey Owl Hoot ! A Whole Bunch Of Times In A Row ! Really Cool !

I’ve always considered tools to be “instruments” rather than tools. Therefore I treat them as such. Professions such as engineers, doctors, dentists utilize “tools” that are highly polished, why shouldn’t tradesmen have the same mentality. I’ve always tried to maintain the appearance of all my “tools” as closely as when I purchased them. I’m in the bling category as you’ve not only restored the wrench, you took it to the next level.

The mica powder trick looks awesome! I have been looking for an inexpensive way to mimic candy style paint. I will give this a try. I like the matte finish best though. I have found that when blueing, it helps to heat the metal first with a heat gun. Not super hot, but good and warm. I have had pieces that will not take blue at all cold and come out perfect when warm. Thanks for another great video.

I had good success using G96 Gun Blue. After applying the gun blue, I coated the area with regular 5W30 motor oil; the blueing had a satin appearance. Previously, I tried Starrett precision oil but did not like the results. The only areas where I had limited success were areas that were not thoroughly wire brushed (on a set of pliers near the plastic handles). Thanks for the videos. Oh by the way, any version is fine.

I like all three finishes but the matte blued finish is my favorite. I have to ask thought did you re-stake the handle for the screw or use a thread locker?

Thanks Brian! If I were gonna use the wrench I would probably add some blue Loctite.

I really like the full bling version, but I'd never want to use it, it looks too good!

As usual another fine restoration. Those adjustables are just so versatile and you have made that better than new. I know you answerd about the adjustable angle jig for sharpening edges on your WEN. Was that an accessorie that came with it or is it or equal available aftermarket? I am partial to the third choice mat finish. Thanks

Thanks! The angle guide should work on any 1x30 machine. I included an Amazon link for it in the description of my spade bit scraper video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eH3EpHSBrJieqac

According to the 1948 catalog, the S finish wrenches were plain steel with polished heads.
