Unfortunately I used to work for Rapid plumbing. They’re based out in LA. I can tell you a lot of the sneaky, unprofessional things that were done. I left after 6 months. My lead who was supposed to teach me how to do plumbing told me with his own words “just go watch a KZbin video”. It was at that moment when I decided to needed to go. The owner of rapid plumbing is also the owner Ritz plumbing.

@@UAintFr3shAzMi yea they both are. My first day, me lead sold a repipe for $18,000, and all that was needed was to change out a piece of the pipe and redo the dry wall. At most it should’ve been $1000.

@@TheRe-EngineeredLife good point. It’s very unfortunate because it makes it hard for other plumbers who actually do honest work out in LA.

@ yes they are. And not one of them are licensed plumbers. The license number on the trucks is a license to run a business, not a license to do plumbing.

Hydrojetting a sewer line is like 800 bucks max and replacing a water heater should be around 2000. Where do they get 17k?!
@smu4141412 күн бұрын
$800 max? Maybe for one branch line. When we jet an entire house sewer system, including the main running to the tie in with a camera inspection, you're looking at closer to $2K. However, nowhere near $17K. Jetting takes a lot of time, and should be done with two guys to make sure you don't flood the house. At $800 max, it will be very hard to make a profit. It costs a lot of money to keep a big company in business.

It depends on what work needs to be done. Sometimes the wooden floor is rotted underneath the old heater and can't support a new one. Sometimes codes require drain pane with clogged dwv from the previous. But you are mostly correct. Sometimes the vent needs fixed. Replacing a water heater 9/10+ times is 2000 dollars max. Occasionally - more work needs to be done and it is more (but that's the exception). Usually the floor isn't rotted out, usually the previous drain pane is working fine, usually nothing needs to be done with the venting (on a gas water heater).
@THETANKGINGER2 күн бұрын
@@smu414141bro I wouldn’t admit this online. Jetting is extremely easy to do for a single person and flooding is hardly an issue.

That's why I do my own work and after 17yrs know how to do it correctly! What gets me in this video is what state makes you get a permit to change a hot water heater?
@UAintFr3shAzMi2 күн бұрын
Lol most due. If you are a professional and working on somebody’s home with a license than you need to pull a permit for most major repairs.

I hope you don't sell your house without permits for some states. An inspector can fine you without a license doing work it's only cracking down more for 2025
@IHateHandleNames2 күн бұрын
My state tracks the sale of water heaters so they can find people who don't permit them. Water heaters are among the highest serious liability cases in residential construction, so I'd suspect quite a few states require a permit and inspection. To clarify, you don't have to get a permit to install the water heater in the sense that they will decline you the ability to even install it out of the gate, but you need to get your install inspected so they know it's done right.

T&P pipe too short, no drip leg on gas line, no expansion tank, flexi 3/4 connections, and why even bother with that pan. That flue looks a little weird. What five violations do the plumbers of KZbin see?

@smu4141412 күн бұрын
@rickywardwell1259 Exactly, in Louisiana, we can install water heaters the same way they were installed when we arrived. However, it doesn't mean that an inspector can't flag them at the time of selling. Every single state is different.

Y'all can get by with a t&p discharge that's 3 feet off the ground? Really? I work on a border of two states and in both of them it's gotta be maximum 2 inches from the ground so it can't discharge boiling water onto a person's body if they're near it. Also the vent tape covering the vent isn't a good sign. Usually it requires 3 screws in each junction, and I put a couple self-tappers into the flue arms too just so it can't come off. Also, if those flex connectors are plastic, it's gotta be metal within 6 inches of the vent. No drip leg for the gas, but I cant see the gas connection all that well. It can be on either side of the whip for us. I'm siding with og commenter here. This looks pretty bad.
