If you cannot unscrew the bolts under the loo because they are rigid, as I have usually found, take a chisel and if you can get it under the circular disc that secures the seat to the loo just use brute force and the disc will pop off releasing the holding screw which drops away.

Thanks to your advice and instructions I did it! I fitted the new seat with confidence. The instructions where in the seat, and I did not throw them away. Great advice. the seat came with a great little gadget to screw the screws into the bottom of the loo. thanks very much.

Hi. My old toilet seat has two plastic long screws with a 'half' nut on the underside of each. The plastic screw is disintegrating when I try and loosen it with a flat headed screwdriver and I can't get the plastic nut to budge even with a pair of pliers...help!

Good video, but I am confused, they could have kept the same seat by just adjusting the position of the hinge holes, most have 2 optional holes to place the bolt in. Further forward or back.

The metal bolts have one problem, if they have been there for a while, then the threads can get all rusty, and they can be a real $%#@ to get off.

Thanks! The toilet toilet seat bit slamming down is also a real pain when you try to clean the loo. I always use a cheap throwaway cloth do the seat bit first then inside the bowl last (for obvious reasons). When you put the seat bit up after cleaning it and try and do the bowl it slams back down. You didn't say why the wooden ones tend to fall down like that (mine is a wooden one too). Is it because they're too heavy? Also, what's that tool called that you used instead of a spanner please?

Ok I’m not a bloke, but my screws are round on the top with no in dents for a screw driver. So underneath I can turn the nuts all day because I can’t put a screw driver in the round, smooth head of the screwer! Help me ! 😤

Any idea how to change a toilet seat that the bolts are not visible. My toilet looks like a solid piece. I think the seat just goes into the holes. but the bottom of the holes are not visible. How do I get the seat off with out pulling the toilet off the floor. One side of the toilet seat is come loose and you can pull it off from the toilet but the other side is not come loose. I hate these toilet seats and they are on three toilets in my home and I struggle with them all. Any help you can give would be great.

just bought a new loo seat that does what the old one does in your video :( my son isnt happy but i can't fix it i tried now the seat slips when you sit on it. At 4am in morning im youtubing how to fix it. why dont these things come with a warning label when you buy them. you make it look simple

Am I the only one who thinks these are really poorly designed? When you tighten the pole onto the hinge on the toilet seat it’s never enough and then the nuts you tighten under the seat just loosen it again when tightened! Exactly what happened when you took off the old one

Ah, when toilet seats were simple. Too many back-to-wall loos with the seat fittings need you to a) unscrew pan-floor bolts b) drain pan c) detach pan inlet and waste outlet, etc. Who thought that design was a good idea?!
