Today we have a look at Plastic Plumbing Pipe Systems and in particular, Buteline. They make a polybutyl pipe with a clamp system that I've installed extensively. We'll talk about the barrier pipe and it's strengths/sizes, we'll rate it vs copper pipe, PEX pipe and CPVC. We'll talk about the clamp system and also get to learn a little bit about where Buteline are going. Feel free to ask them questions in the comments below.

Not bad this video is almost 4 years old and I've only just discovered Buteline due to Loving Plumbing's YT channel. This gives me another option other than Uponor Pex (which honestly I love that it's colour coded (red/blue/white - hot/cold/heating) and press fitting copper.

Been using Buteline in NZ for 30 years (as a builder, not a plumber) and love it. Never had a fitting fail, cost effective, quick, looks so much better than push fit. A plumber mate told it had pepper it it to stop rats chewing it.

Seriously... i drive about my home town randomly shouting "hold tiiiight".. Really good direction to take the channel. You'll move onto some really big big things in this direction. I know everyone has different opinions but I would have liked to have seen a Buteline overview earlier in the video. Stuff at 05:51 should have come a bit sooner as an overview. Maybe start with an early interview question with "So, what is it that Buteline do?" Also, some B Roll images or small clips show casing their product. Would have liked to have seen how you replace a crimped connector. Excellent step up in the channel. Hold tiiiiiight.

These videos are a nice idea mate. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't generally go to trade shows -- the idea of taking a day off work, and driving up to the NEC or ExCeL, unpaid, to be sold to, just doesn't do it for me at all. Vids like this are a good way of getting an idea of newer products and making an informed decision on whether to invest in new kit to try them out, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to putting this video together. Great to see some of the new Bute developments. Thought we might get to see the shower valve fixing kit I've seen on KZbin. I still want to start using it but just haven't found the opportunity because copper is so much more accessible. And I like the challenge of using rigid pipework and pipe benders etc.

Strap Right Back, hey love your videos. Question for you... I’ve got an old primatic system in the house and need to change the bath, loo, basin etc. Can I turn the cold feed off and bung the outlet in the tank up in the loft to stop the cylinder refilling, drain off some hot water via the taps so the level in the in the cylinder drops a little so I can disconnect the bath etc? Or am I talking shite and the cylinder will implode!! Hold Tight

What connector would you need to connect existing 16mm rehau pex to buteline pipe? Is there a joiner for going from one pipe type to another? Ta

i would love Uponor to be distributed in NZ but sadly the North Shore agent did not respond by phone or email last year and now they have just disappeared off the net (for NZ). it all seems to be bute, PEX & copper in that order over here. for now i am using Kembla PEX, which i have integrated in my Frankenstein plumbing mix of copper, buteline & now PEX for my house. i just wish they had colour coding for cold (blue) and hot (red) piping. Uponor does coloured pipes as well as options for ceiling extinguishers which i really really like.

U did not mentioned in your video Buteline also make fittings for Polyethylene pipes (PE80). I was planning to get the crimp for Buteline pipes PB-1 but bought the wrong one and could not return it. Ive been using buteline fittings for PE80 pipes for a few months and i never need to fix any work the second time.

in 1980s in USA buteline pipes were the hit too, and now they are the nr. 1 failing plumbing application in older homes at the moment, who has that pipe. And now UK is doping the same thing. What worries me is - the same grey thin pipe. It looks excatly the same as the one that was used in USA. I hopoe it is not the same thing, because. . . Oh My God!
