Made me chuckle, don’t know why I watched the video cause I know nothing about plumbing but I enjoyed it and learned as well. My comment would be having the hole through the wall directly above the electric socket in the cupboard, so if the joint did leak the water would get into the socket and I know that’s really bad 😳. Great video 👍👍.

I use a 22mm 800mm long core drill bit for outside taps now so I drill from inside out. hit a heating return once drilling from outside and flooded the kitchen lol

See if you can find an Oras frost proof garden valve (part number 431415), it’s what we use here in Finland. It moves the valve body inside the house, and thus drains out the outside tap every time you shut it, so no remembering to drain it out in the fall. Like everything Oras makes it’s probably going to outlive us all (I’ve never had to replace one, and they’ve made the same tap at least since the 80s), it’s rebuildable, only issue is that they’re extremely proud of it, so it’s priced accordingly. 😂

The self cutting valves for the filtered tap tend to let by sometimes very badly after a while, I've eradicated a few now. Unfortunately it tends to happen when the filter housing has failed and you really need to isolate it.

You added a drain off. Would this be needed, as in if you wanted to drain the remaining water in the short pipe work, could you isolate and turn the outside tap on to rid the remaining water? None the less cracking job though.

Because of the very cold temperatures in Canada, they use a tap that self drains when you switch it off. But it doesn't work if a hose pipe is left connected..😂

I would just put a thin pilot drill through from the inside and turn the hammer of for the last bit through the render and then just put the bigger drill through from the outside. Easy half hour job.

Love your vids, sparky here (commercial) why didn't you eat the onion titbit? Anyway, the way around washing machine probs you went on about, On kitchen install nominate a deep w/top. Not the standard worktop-its to shallow. Make your worktop 70cm wide, then all pipe work probs are solved. I made mine 75/80cm wide because I had integrated machines fitted.

Maybe this is a silly question but can you not just drain off using the tap outside instead of a drain off valve under the sink? Also, using the full bore lever to get the full flow makes sense but would it then be restricted by the valve anyway?

You can't get that much water out of the tap, this way it's completely drained down

I don’t really get why people still use those style taps anywhere, ever, where you have to turn it round a trillion times. U can get outside taps with quarter turn levers and are just such joy to use. Did u go with traditional sand and cement render?

I've fitted a few of those peglar outside Lever taps. The only problem I found is that the Lever rusted with in a few months

Just because you've seen a big tap fitted with a check valve fitted 100 times before doesn't mean it's correct. It's a bit like seeing fancy designer radiators though out a house with no drain valves on the downstairs rads. Looks great but not to regs.
