Plumbing Wars…Have I Got A Point Or Just Moaning Too Much?!!

Plumbing is never straight forward however it can be over complicated when you come across and installation that you feel just makes life more difficult. I've said my piece before about silicone and i do feel its overused in circumstances where it isn't needed which was proved when plumbing in a new toilet and vanity unit. The customer wanted to keep to old units as they wasn't very old but removing them in one piece was challenging due to how they had been fitted by the previous plumber.
In this day in the life of a plumber we will be removing a built in toilet assembly and vanity unit and replacing it with a standard toilet and smaller vanity unit and basin to give the customer some much needed room within there bathroom.

Back again it's the silicone masters! rocking with the ill behavior🤣. Good job getting those units out in the end bud, I hate the over usage of silicone SEALANT where it isn't needed too, if you don't vent about it would drive you crazy. Good idea using pencil lead or marker to mark the back of the unit in the way you did (Timesaver for sure) . Looks much better now, thanks for another useful real video.

If they’ve got solid fixings aka screws, then I seriously don’t understand the need for all that silicone behind the units as well. Fair enough if you can’t get a decent fixing for whatever reason and you just do like 2 small blobs of silicone, but yeah you have got a fair point because that was mental

I have to comment while I’m still watching, I’m a plumber /bathroom fitter and I bloody hate silicone! It has one purpose, to seal and waterproof joints . A small amount should be used to stick vanity basins to the cabinet ( manufacturers instructions) but agree 100% 👍👍👍👍

Great job fella 👍 A little tip I tend to do with the question mark pan connector is to stick a piece of wood behind it as they have a tendency to pop off as ive found out myself !! With ref to the basin unit was there space to bring it up behind the back panel and then scollop the top of the back panel and a anti vac p trap will sit high enough to pick up the waste . Normally you only get about 65mm service space on some vanity units so you possibly could of taken it up the back . Easy me saying that as I wasn't there! 1st all plastic unit I've seen which saves those mdf ones falling apart! Stanley do the paint scrapers for similar money but the good thing is you can just replace the blades on them as they're standard Stanley blades ! Also great to use inside cisterns to remove silicone 😮😅

Bathroom fitters, plastic push fit and loads of silicon, they tend to be Jack of all trades, each to there own trade, a proper plumber will use copper and solvent weld.

Always used copper with end feed, pre soldered and compression fittings depending on what was needed and they all worked well. Also used mostly push fit waste where pipes where exposed and not boxed in. Never had one failure or call back and the trick is to use the same brand of fittings as the pipes. Waste pipes only carry very low pressure water so there is rarely a problem. I used to use a little solvent on toilet overflow or condensate pipes. I later changed this to certain Fernox products, glue or silicone because I had a terrible allergy and reaction to solvents.

Silicone is for baths and showers. Got no place on bogs or tap holes. Sparingly to fix cisterns to walls if no screw holes. I curse plumbers who silicone fill valves, wastss and taps in. No need😂

Your definitely moaning too much, you can’t moan about silicone and then use 2 pan connectors a flexi tap con and a speedfit elbow, double standards mate we do what we do to get the job done, your just bashing other fitters to make yourself look better 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fair enough but the Speed fit elbow was already there I just reused it and replaced the plastic for copper, most basin taps come with flexis now can’t remember last time I saw solid fixings on a monoblock, wel any modern tap to be honest and the pan extender inside the space saver, straight elbow and flexi wouldn’t fit, anything else you would suggest or I’m overlooking on that one?
