Glad to know I wasn't crazy when I thought of using plywood for bases xD Doing this with a 90gal that had a shattered bottom and no local places wanted to cut me a piece of glass OR acrylic so said screw it...heh literally. Hope it's been working good for you.

Looks like you went freehand with cutting the plywood- were you able to get good straight/square edges that way? Or does it not matter that much if the glass is square?

It doesnt matter that much because the glass is set back about an inch on all 4 sides for a support rail

I got a quote to replace the glass bottom on this tank and a peice of glass 3'x6' x 3/4" was $670 and that was just rough cut without sanded or gound edges and no sump holes drilled, if I got all that it was over $1000. This method is under $200

This is going to be getting double seamed with silicone both on the bottom of the glass as well as one and a half inches around the outside of the glass, if it leaks I'll be extremely surprised

I’m curious to know Why you went with a plywood bottom aquarium?. Was the bottom glass broken?

Yes the glass was broken, a new piece of glass was 6 foot by 3 foot and 3/4" thick, a new peice of glass would have been almost $1000, doing it this was only cost about $200
