Tom Tracks - Sorry for the confusion. These first delivery models with the lights aren’t the first production run but rather the demo units that traxxas ships to the stores before the production kits are available. They include the lighting kit pre installed so the shop owners can show them and possibly take preorders on both. I don’t know yet if they’ll be any cheaper than buying the light kit separately but each shop only receives one first delivery model anyway, and they usually keep it as a display.

Picked my store demo up Friday. Looks great. Already upgraded the light controller and receiver using the bluetooth adaptor. Can switch to high and low beam and day mode. Don't want to run it and scratch the body though! Aaarrrggg When I hold it up and run it, the rear end gears sound out of round. Anybody else's do this when new?

Pop Wall ...I’ve had some of the best customer service from Traxxas, they’ve given me, 2 free tires and wheels for a 1/16 Summit, 1 steering servo and 1 shift mini servo for a 1/10 Summit, a motor for a Teton, and 50% off on a new power system for a Slash VXL 3500 system I tortured to death doing speed runs with a way too big pinion gear. Yeah, I’m kinda happy. (Oh, and a handful of TRX male and female plugs to solder up other ESCs and batteries)

I’m not sure how much it would be but it’s unlikely that it’ll be any cheaper than if you were to buy the light kit separately. We haven’t received ours yet and we’re not allowed to sell it right away anyway, nor do I know yet if I want to sell it because it would be my store display. I will certainly keep you in mind though. I’m assuming you’re in Calgary with the yyc in your name so if you’d like a production one anyway, please give the shop a call on Monday to put your name down for one (please give them your youtube handle as well) I know we’ve already pre-sold a bunch and I wouldn’t want you to miss out. This guy says you can use 2s, but when I call Traxxas one rep said I couldn't, and another rep said I could but it would over-heat the battery. Anyone have any insight on this? My 2wd stampede vxl with a 5800mah 2s battery in training mode gets about 35-45m of use per a full balanced charge. Any idea what kind of use I could get out of the same battery on this Maxx?

I'm not exactly sure about the run time but I don't see any harm in running it on 2S. It shouldn't overheat the battery because you're dropping voltage. When you drop voltage, the current draw decreases too and less current usually means less heat. If you try it, keep an eye on the temps of the ESC, Motor and Battery but I think you'll find that they'll all be cool.

Pop Wall You’ll need locking diffs for rock climbing. The TRX-4 and Summit do that. The X-maxx is known for bashing and speed, not crawling.

It's a tiny bit smaller than the original short wheelbase E-Maxx, but enough that 1/8 tires would probably bring it back to being the same

Arrma Kraton 4S and Maxx have same 13" wheel base, but K4S is an inch wider, has more ground clearance, has bigger tyres, weighs less, has a bigger motor and sells for $150 less. If you wanna spend $550 on a Maxx you can get a 6S Kraton, thats 4" wider and 2" longer wheel base. Those are the facts.

Jason Dearden - Arrma makes great vehicle, no doubt about it. I sell them in my store too, along with other great brands. I find it’s always best to see and touch a vehicle like this, and compare it in real life, before making a decision on which vehicle you like. You can work the shocks, flex the arms, test the dampening, chew on the tires etc etc. Specifications, I find, can only get you so far.... thanks for watching and for the comment!

@David M I agree to a point, but an all metal drive train isn't worth it if the chassis, braces, and towers need upgrading to prevent bending. Those parts are much more expensive, just like the tsm radio system is compared to the widely disliked cheap Spektrum. Can't say I've seen people complain about the Xmaxx cush drive or torque-biasing center drive and this smaller version isn't even out yet. I have seen numerous complaints about Arrma slipper clutches though. As for 6s, it's great in the right vehicle, but it's not needed in lighter trucks. This is 55mph stock. That's faster than a stock 6s Arrma.
