In 2018, a bug was found in the Gens version of UMK3. P1 pressing the "mode" button would input Up for P2 during special moves. You could essentially prevent your opponent from doing special moves by mashing it during combos. Several top Russian Gens players admitted to knowing about this and using it in matches after it was discovered.

Remember the kreate a kharacter in mk armageddon? I remember creating an unblockable combo with the chicken leg. The fact that you can choose the throw that launches and then combo into the chicken leg was awesome.

I heavily played MKD online back in 2004-2005 and it was a tough ride with so many players using Infinites, free throws, OTG's, etc. Players complain now of broken characters in later MK versions, yet they don't know the half of it or what it actually means that something is broken and not just referring to just some overpowered special or plus frames.

Depends on TV model and if your TV is on a less bright setting then the skin doesn't really hurt the eye. But if it's bright screen and certain model of TV it will hurt alot.

Fun fact: It was not the last time you could attack your opponent before the match started. Back in MK Mobile (then named MKX Mobile), pausing the game before the match started allowed you to attack. If my memory is correct, they tried to correct this by removing the pause button during the start but using the back button on the task bar did the trick. Eventually, they patched it.

There was a Fujin infinite in MK11. You have to use that floaty move (I forget what it's called) Press F3, then DDU and stance switch (L2 or LT). The stance switch would cancel the float and allow you to do another F3 that's unblockable thus leading into an infinite. It was REALLY hard to do but it definitely worked.

I love how the dumb-dumbs who played MKvDC and go “It was good!” have never actually played it against a real, human being. Having came from Armageddon and Deception’s online, back in the day, switching to 8’s online was truly horrific. It didn’t matter how many hours you sank into learning combos, because 99% of people played either Flash, Superman, or Green Lantern, and looped you to death in BS infinites and unblockables. It genuinely wasn’t fun, at all, and the latency made it so hard to correct and counter, that online was basically a guessing game. I recall I played it for a solid few months, and just gave up, because if it wasn’t getting infinites shoved down your mouth, it was bad net-code. I truly have no idea how ANYONE can like that game, because it was horrendous, both in control and presentation. I can’t confirm seeing the unplug trick in Deception’s online, so it must have been fairly niche, since it wasn’t like now, where you have a game hub complete with a forum; we used to have to organize forums on external, fan sites, or things like Gamespot’s forums. I think I recall the unplug trick happened in DA, when me and a few friends were playing, and one of them pulled the controller out when adjusting before a match. I don’t think we ever abused the bug, because it was so quick that we didn’t consider it as anything other than a glitch, and we never tried to recreate it. One of the filthiest tactics though was Sub-Zero’s deep freeze before his fatality, in MK2. When the servers were up for MK Kollection, if you lost to a Sub-Zero player, you prayed they didn’t know how to loop the freeze, because it was just a waste of time; I’m sure it was like that in the real arcade, but it just drives me nuts.

Man, I gotta say, playing against infrared Scorpion as my very first tower fight, the very first time EVER using Predator, was a fucking trip. A genuine mindfuck. I was simultaneously saying "omfg, wow, this attention to detail they paid is sooo neat!" and also "omfg, this is actually gonna be kind of annoying seeing every character like this, how tf do I turn it off?" The very next round had me even more perplexed but then answered my questions shortly after when my logic kicked in. XD

Definitely a scummy, try hard thing to do. Ive encountered the deception disconnecting and replugging in trick. Lame Bo players did this to me to try to hit me with the busted Bo OTG bs lol 😅

i played mk decption online on ps2. if you do the disconnect trick and hit the opponent before the timer starts you do 0 damage to them. really the most broken thing about it is that you can insta kill on trap stages with it

For mk4 it appears that the player being able to attack first is able to do so because their health bar fills up slightly before which means thst the match probably starts furst for whoever has first player and it probably isn't matchup specific but frame specific for the moves. Try using moves at the beginning which have low start-up frames

Other cheap tatics: Mk deception and armageddon:tombstone drop spam is meta in deception and in Armageddon TBD is nerfed but some characters can't deal with this move. Mk deception: unblockable throw after knockdown Mk Armageddon:Kira 44u3 string and ground infinites Mk armageddon:sub zero impale glitch is unblockable if you are frozen and he is a great turtle character in this mk, millena can also use impale and i heard kitana also have access to this glitch and other characters have access to mkD movements using the jumpover glitch, the most notable being kenshi Mk Armageddon: sareena dagger throw gameplan basically you are safe as long you can keep distance from your opponent.

I can think of a few things from mk9 that should be on this list lol my favorite is when people would continuously jump on the other side of you and hit you before landing then jump to the other side and repeat.. if done correctly you would be unable to preform any attacks due to the input switching sides and regular hits being to slow to react.. alot of the higher ranked players in tag matches would do this. Or who could forget Sheeva and her kick jump combo lol but that was easy to counter atleast
