You made me buy the book. I´m a teacher, and I had a trainer, he always kept telling me to "go deeper", and I really never really got that. Originally, I thought read again. But now I see that going deeper could be really "listening to it directly from the horses´s mouth". So thanks! Great post.

We have worked on building resilience on our students. They are fearful of making mistakes and it goes beyond not wanting to learn, it is about not being willing to use the language to develop learning for their professional or personal growth. So I´m reading. I´m reading....

THANKS Brian! for your service to us ... helping direct us to further study on great wisdom ... Just my general comment, my 2 cents worth on ALL "self-development" knowledge .... its easy to understand wisdom as "knowledge" ... we should think ourselves of as "makers" ...example is a martial arts student ... we see the teachers' movements (wisdom) ... but we need to practise it, do & correct, do & correct (can be seen as failure, which its not), over & over ... daily ....mastering the wisdom .... we are all "makers" ... make ... making poems, cupcakes, happy families, companies, city councils, systems.... "so, what are we each making? " .... cheers

Wow, I was spot on when I picked this PN video with you Brian!! This really was inspiring and really summed so much of what you have been teaching us.. thanks so much. I have fallen into a bit of a slump.. So, #2 of I to A to F really was a concept that I needed to have reinforced in my brain. Getting back on the horse and embracing failure. That's actually something that I also teach my students and yet, as a recovering perfectionist, I am still struggling with it. I tell my photo students to embrace rejection because it will happen again and again and again and then it will not happen.. but if you don't try, you stay in the mediocre zone. It's always good to hear you say that a particular book really rocks your world because often it seems like you love every book you read, but I could tell that this book really made an impression on you. I keep thinking of buying one of these books and I never know which one to go for or which one best suits where I am in my life right now. Another funny thing... on a side note. When I was asleep last night and dreaming, I was actually doing the breath exercise that you talked about from another book (I can't remember the name of it) where you breath in through your nose and breath out through your mouth and press your tongue against your front teeth!! And I was actually doing it out loud while I was sleeping. So, thanks for entering my subconscious. LOL!! That means you are doing a great job!! I am finally joining the cult and it's a good cult!! Thanks!! Hey, when are you going to do a notes on Oliver Sacks? He's awesome and he has a lot of interesting things to say. I love his writing! Peace up!! And thanks!
@HeroicBrian9 жыл бұрын
Juliana Beasley Funny re: the dream! I think you'd love Resilience. It's amazing. What title do you recommend I start with re: Oliver? And, did I ever mention the importance of consistency on your fundamentals? :)
@JulianaBeasley19679 жыл бұрын
***** Yep, Brian, I have not 100% committed to one of the fundamentals in daily habits 101... how did you know? You caught me.. that said, I stretched my physical boundaries a bit too far in Armenia and the rubber band snapped even though I am very happy with my experience there and my will to be committed to my work!!! So, that's a win.. I just have to take smaller steps and yes, that includes the fundamentals.. which I hope to start tomorrow. So, thanks for getting back to me on my permanent daily mantra, "CONSISTENCY" AND THE OTHER "C" WORD.. "CONSTRAINTS"!!! LOL! Both applicable here. In terms of Sacks, I would suggest you read one of his early books like Awakenings or The Man Who Mistook is Wife for a Hat.. but in terms of the work that you do--teaching-- I think that maybe Musicophilia. I haven't read it, but there is neuroscientific proof that music is highly therapeutic and good for brain development. I can recommend some others. He is just an amazing storyteller and it's very unusual that a clinician can make a good story out of his case studies. I would check out one of his TED talks or even some of the videos here on KZbin. He is really amazing!! Let me know if you need anymore advice there. Thanks for responding and blessings to you and your family!!

Brian... Thank you for this video. I have been struggling to figure out why my life seems to have been so lacking in success. What you've highlighted here is the most insightful and useful thing I've found in my time searching. I see how almost all my life I've been approaching it as F-A-I and never even thought those should be turned around to I-A-F; I've been on the run from life and living for years. Crazy how something so simple can create such an awakening, but it always is the simpler things that have a profound impact, isn't it? I'm off to get the book even though just what you've highlighted here is more than enough for me to get started, like immediately.

Thank you .. All what you said is good...but we have to differentiate between Resilience and Resiliency.. What you talked about was resiliency>>>inner traits to face a low risky challenges ... Resilience is a process that gathers what within us "powerful traits" + what between us with others "family&friends" + what beyond us "the community" to thrive against high risky challenges .. The book is written in an enthusiastic language offering a good tips for forging (Resiliency) which is afterword the first step to enhance Resilience and connect diversity in our communities.
