I know I just posted a Kung Fu Panda video, but it's all I can think about. Yes, I ship these two, but also their relationship (romantic or not) is so great. I just love it. Tigress adores Po, but she would NEVER say it. I will say it for her. (Also this really isn't for k!dz b/c I do say bad words in the video soooo. Just in case it gets flagged, that's the warning.)

Well you have to remember the first movie, all the love and care that Shifu gave to Tai Lung only for him to turn evil made him go cold and not give that same love to Tigress which is why she’s so stoic and blunt. Po praising her and being genuinely in awe of her probably makes her feel the way she always wanted to as a child, Po sees her and her talents and loves it

I just love how she always, naturally and without hesitation, catches him, takes care of him, he is always the first one she is protecting... It is beautifully ironic that he actually gave her everything she first thought he took away from her. I mean, she trained hard her whole life to gain her master's appreciation and when she expected her great moment to come, it was stolen from her by some random untrained panda... And then Po was actually the one who appriciated and admired her abilities and everything she gained through her hard training and saw her as incredibly awesome. It is always very obvious how moved she is by his admiration and appreciation because it was all she's ever wanted. I think his childish innocence, sincerity and honesty awaken these fragile feelings in her, the need to protect him, not just from all enemies, but also protect these qualities he has, she just loves who he is. He brings fun into her too serios world filled with responsibility. He is her true friend, her family, her soft spot..

This was a very beautiful dissection of her perspective and relationship with him. Po, aside from his adoration of Tigress' skill and character, I believe also harbors 'softer' feelings for the tiger master. Just the way he looks at her dude. ❤ Though I can't say for certain where Tigress sits in that regard. She may just regard Po with a more platonic disposition. But you know that's fine as it seems Po respects her a lot to push for more and is content with the status quo. Though this could change later.

I think it's a very good platonic turn of the "hardened protector x naive protected" tropes (Gwen and Miles, Vi and Powder etc). She's had so much hurt in her life and thought he would be just another punch to her face, just another thorn in her already unfeeling fingers. Yet, after passing through the first wave, he's just what she wanted: the person that validates her, tells her she is incredible, adores her unconditionally and (now) beyond being her biggest fan. By the third movie, considering Po's become Tigress's master now, that wish to have a master with a deep appreciation for her skills and person is finally granted in full! It's an arc we get to subtly observe through the movies and even the tv show. Really good stuff!

Not gonna lie, when I was a kid, I actually thought Crane had a crush on Tigress. He wanted her to keep him from harm and told Po to never hug her again. His shocked reactions to the hugs between them were the most notable, as well, like he was disturbed by the idea of the pairing. I'm almost positive that none of that was the case, though. He was simply being a "wimp" and wanted to stay behind with Po for having a sore wing. He told Po not to hug her again because he keeps thinking Tigress is going to really hurt him, hence the stressed out reactions. lol

How I love the dynamic between these two. A shame that Tigress had no real role in KFP4, as I and many others were looking forward to seeing her again. Hopefully they'll do more with her and Po in KFP5. I imagine DreamWorks and Universal Studios are likely feeling the _immense_ backlash from fans who want the Furious Five back. They probably won't pull an omission like that again, given how that was one of the main criticisms of KFP4. Many say Po's story was complete after KFP3, as was the Kung Fu Panda brand, but personally, I just want to see more between him and Tigress. Their interactions are surprisingly cute and wholesome, despite being polar opposites of each other. The bond they have in KFP2 is actually one of my favourite aspects of that film, and in my opinion, said bond carries much it on a similar level that Shen does. It's simply not talked about as much, but is incredible, nonetheless. ^^

Just make it canon already, DreamWorks, you cowards!

As for the 5 they are an expensive cast. Angelina Jolie charges 20 million per voice line. Hopefully kfp5 will have a higher budget so that that the 5 will have more voice lines. They were confirmed to have a bigger role in kfp5.

People don’t realize that Po was going to be married in the 3 movie. Apparently Mei Mei and Po were arranged to be married since birth. But after Po and tigress fought Kai and tigress got injured Po took care of tigress. After seeing this Mei Mei conceded to tigress handing her what looks like a wedding dress. You can see it in the deleted storyboard. They decided to do a complete 180 and changed the plot. Po and tigress were going to be cannon. That’s why that one scene was called love chunk in the first movie and they were extremely developed in the second movie they were just too afraid to put them together in the 3rd. Edit- now the 5 will only make a cameo in the 4th film going on separate missions. If tipo isn’t confirmed in this movie then it might never be despite the fact that kfp 5 and 6 are confirmed.

But man why all that buildup in 2 if it didn't make any considerable headway in 3. Or maybe because the focus was more on Po's dads and the pandas. I have a theory that was kind of the original intent pre-rewrite. Kung Fu Panda 3 was meant to be more akin to KF2 in both tone and writing, and surprisingly more TiPo centered as Tigress would've been instructed to attend the Panda Village alongside Po and his Fathers; Considering Kung Fu Panda 3's overall themeing was about "Family" it would only make sense that in tandem Tigress ORIGINAL character arc would've been introducing her the idea of ever wanting to have a family of her own and whether or not she'd want to be with Po. It's a stretch and a pretty speculative one, but it makes sense the roles of both Mei Mei and that Baby Panda contextually in the story had that been the case, as it makes them more than just quick gags with no pay-off but rather something more meaningful for Tigress, and in the long run Po; After all, there was a cut concept art piece in which Mei Mei insists giving Tigress a dress to 'impress Po' after she witness how worried Po was for Tigress post-Kai's encounter (Which was gonna be more brutal). We were RIGHT THERE regarding TiPo being canon and happening in Kung Fu Panda 3, but mothers that watched the second one thought it was too violent, and that the villain was to scary for to their children to watch and complained to DreamWorks, and in the end we got a salvaged safe script that repurposed the 'clean' concepts of the original story that not only butchered Kai's performance as a villain, but also created creative disputes between Jasmine Yang and DreamWorks that led to, you guessed it, no TiPo because DreamWorks didn't feel like losing audience with a script that risky that could've severely changed (progressed) the personality of their characters.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that there is no confirmation on whether they're in love or not. I think the fact that Po didn't realize Mr. Ping isn't his bio dad is beautiful. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I imagine not a lot of adopted kids might realize they were adopted unless they were told as much or were old enough to remember and all. Po wasn't the latter. But, just as he and Mr. Ping show in the movie, it doesn't matter. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.
