Dear Laurie Marie, I have been teaching Creative Writing for well being for many years and all of the members of the current group are arty folk, many lapsed but when I found out that it was World Collage Day on May 12th I told the group and we decided to have a fun collage day instead. The first 2 sessions we mad art on boards, canvasses but last time we started ‘altered books with glue,’ and many people are carrying on at home. Thanks for the fabulous ideas. This works really well in a group setting. Thank you. It’s ‘Very fun.’ K xo

wow karen....the group setting is so awesome for inspiring each other...i adore the energy in groups.....are you using the videos as 'lesson plans'? how wonderful!!!!! yay!!!!! it may help you to join the patreon platform that i have going....patreon helps me send out focal points, step-by-step instructions, the companion video (found on youtube) and an image of the project...you can download everything and print it out....anyway....just a thought...and you get all that for...what? $10 a month...carazy! oh...plus an entire list (created by murphy) of ALL the available videos and what they are about....here is the link if you are interested.... www.patreon.com/LorriMarie

Hi LorriMarie, I’ve used general ideas so far because it’s quite a mixed ability group, although several people are advanced, so I’ve sharing a few links with our little group in Messenger. My writing and art groups are mostly about enjoying the process, the sense of community, of being totally absorbed in the moment which is such a great stress buster but they do some lovely work. I’m trying to get my spare room up and running as a proper art space where I will be able to do a small advance groups. I thought about Patreon but as I live in Wales U.K. I know it’s too costly for you to send stuff here because of the postage cost, unless you could send out printable PDF’s instead, however, I do want to say thank you for being so inspirational so I have selected a few images I’ve got a fabulously whacky one from a magazine and I’d love to see what you will make of it. I’ll look for some other bits and pieces that you might not get there and make you a small parcel. Where will I find your address? I’ll also have a look at your paid for lessons. Thanks again, I’ll see you on the table. :-) Karen

so....first off it is so great to hear from you.....all corresponding with patreon is via pdf's and the like...so there is no extra cost to either of us....$10 a month and i send pdf's of the instructions, a link back to the video and a picture of the project.....it is easily downloaded and printed out....ahhhhhh......very cost effective....then once a month i send out a pdf of some fun focal points... 'we' have closed group Our KZbin Village LorriMarie that you can request to join if you would like to stay connected with other people being inspired by my videos...way fun! and you can also 'strut' your own fun artwork that you are creating using my youtube channel as inspiration....anyway....just some info that might help....thank you for the comments and keep doing what you are doing to make this crazy world a better place for all of us...namaste! oh....and email me....i will send you my address.... lorrimarie93@gmail.com

Hi LorriMarie: I’m really enjoying your series so far and think I’ll start a new book and follow along. When I’ve done books before I used Golden Matt medium to glue pages together but had a lot of issues with the pages warping and waving. I see you use modpodge, so does that solve the issue or do you have any advice on that? I also see you use watercolor on top so I know you’re getting your pages very wet....Thanks!
@lorrimarie20026 жыл бұрын
hey there susan.....i am a big modpodge fan....as you know....i have had students us the matte medium with less than stellar results...so there you have it...my pages get pretty darned wet, you are right! lol! i hope that helps...i am so glad you are playing though! see you on the table....

Hi LorriMarie! I have a question about when you put the washi tape on the pocket. Is that what holds the pages to the back or is it the tying of the ribbons? It looked like the pocket would've stayed open somehow. Thanks in advance from Chicago :-)
@lorrimarie20026 жыл бұрын
i thought i answered this question but now i do not see the response...hmmmmm....the washi tape is not strong enough...nope.....i think i probably used some tacky glue and then used the tied 'ribbon' for extra strength.....so sorry that i have not responded sooner....where do the days go???? see you on the table jai!

I have gotten up to this part. I Had to cut the triangle for pockets. When I looked at the back of the book , where the window page is, Some pages came unglued. How Disappointing. This Is my first altered book. I can not even think of adding any more pages as I noticed I had to removed more pages. However, I have to now add in front of where the window page is. Because there is a gap there. I also noticed where I used the mod podge the pages do stick, i.e., video #3. The theme I used came out beautiful. But the pages do stick. At This point I need to tape between pages and try to glue the pages in the gaps and lay down tape. The book had 265 pages. 41 pages I removed. Should I have removed more pages?
@lorrimarie20026 жыл бұрын
each book is so different....some are just more fragile that others...you can remove atleast 20-25% of the book....some of my books are held together with additional fabric, tape, lace....you name it...how much of the book is done? keep in touch! it is a learning experience for certain! see you on the table maria!
@mariale-bron90346 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. Thank for your encouragement. I would have to remove some more pages - I started to tape down the pages. I noticed the pocket page was tearing at the bottom, so i taped it inside where you can not see it. Thank you.
