28:43 Talk to the people you so loathe. RFK, Tulsi, Joe Rogan, Elon, JD Vance, Kasparian, even Trump - invite them on. Tell them why they're so bad, then let them respond. Have good-faith conversations and if you can make a solid case why they're bad for America (outside of the usual overzealous slurs), you will win a more diverse audience and voters.

Housing. It's a supply issue, not a demand issue. Fix housing by: barring corporate ownership of single family homes; restricting single family home zoning; and ending all tax benefits for 2d/3d/4th homes - triple tax them -- we do not need the proliferation of short term rentals. Housing is an allocation/distribution problem, not a demand problem. A third of my neighborhood homes sit empty 6+ months - and my HOA bars short term rentals. Open these homes up to single and double family living and we'll have a community again.

The problem with dems thinking podcasts will save them is that the "sea of red" as Scott called it is largely not political in nature. These are platforms that mostly talk about a variety of topics other than politics that appeal to young men (combat sports, comedy, working out, self-improvement, etc). Rogan, Theo Von, Lex Fridman, Logan Paul, Nelk Boys are all podcasts Trump and/or Vance went on that are not political shows. Creating a competitor to pod save america does nothing.

I just always felt like Democrats were for a Democracy that respects and supports "plurality" (a diverse populace). The country over the past 100 years, has always benefited from diversity and immigrants and individuality. I'd hate to see Democrats shirk back from that. It's a central vein of what America is. I don't want to see us become a "white christian nation" (excluding everyone else). Needless to say, this does not reflect well on how many of our citizens are faring. I think that this data contributes to the political divide as well.

The 65 year old woman in Scott's example buys groceries and is concerned about those costs as much as whether her son is living in the basement. She has a multitude of reasons for voting the veggie and joker out of the white house.

Can't substitute class for race, no you can't Scott. Identity politics of the 90's and early 2000 seems old in 2024, and it is...but that does not mean you "throw it out" and focus on class. Identity plays out differently in 2024, how it intersects with Race has changed since 2000, and we need to better understand how race and identity politics plays out in 2024. The wrong thing to do is pivot to class/economics exclusively and ignore racial disparities. I love this podcast, but you're wrong on this. Get a better grasp about the nuanced way identity intersects with class and you'll really be on the cutting edge of analysis about wtf went on with politics in this election.

2:32 This is the real drama of the political situation right now. If groceries get a bit more expensive, Americans are willing to give up power to a convicted criminal and his gang of unqualified cronies just for a change, as if it's not big a deal.

Is Jon confused? A grown man with no income who is living in his parents' basement IS homeless. He just happens to have a gracious family. Listen, I make 120k a year and I can't afford to live comfortably on my own with a young child. This is a serious issue and the cities are failing because of it. I could move to Iowa with 120k a year and live like a king but in the city I live like a pauper. Yet there are few 120k jobs in the country, you are lucky to find a 25k job there. Yet eggs and gas cost the same in both places. This is the division in our society.

You are conflating the meaning of 'homeless' with status of being a homeowner or rent-paying tenant. If you live in a private residence on a long-term basis where you receive mail, you are not homeless.
