The larger risk is not the individuals chosen and their qualifications but putting all of them in place in a mass recess appointment. If these individuals are required to go through the normal confirmation process then they would actually be required to spend some time at the department they seek to run and be required to read a briefing package about the current state of the department and then appear before congress and demonstrate a basic understanding of the mission of the department and its relationship with congress. For Hegseth, Gabbard, and RFK Jr they would actually learn the reality and complexity of DNI, HHS, and DOD mission. Right now all three are operating from ignorance, innuendo, and bias

The real question about Hegseth: Will he do the work of replacing the military command structure with loyalists to the president? Yeah. As a vet who also began his service in 2003, I get frustrated when people who have never served say things about military service in a glowing respect when they don’t seem to have the necessary context. For example, at the end of my tour in Iraq in ‘05, literally every senior NCO and officer received - at minimum - a bronze star. And junior NCOs and enlisted received blanket Army Commendation Medals. It’s just what it was. I’m not saying that he didn’t serve honorably or anything, but calling out that he received two bronze stars… that’s not indicative of individual valor or merit; it was the blanket award given for people who held his rank given to tens of thousands of officers. It sounds like he deployed twice… received two bronze stars… yeah, that checks out.

Aside from all of his other issues, and they're substantial, I have a major problem with his repeated comments that active duty service people and veterans shouldn't use many of their benefits and that it's wrong for them to do so. My grandfather was a bronze star winner, a D-Day veteran who landed at Omaha beach and later served in combat in Korea. My Dad and Son are Army veterans. So according to him they're basically deadbeats taking handouts because they use the benefits they earned? This is the parasite we want running our military? So I don't know what points you're trying to make about his service, but you're not making them very well.

21:15 Sorry Jessica, you again do not know what you are talking about. I support woman having the option to be in combat, I have no opposition at all to that, but they have different standards, which some people could argue (right or wrong) that lower standards could let in less qualified people (and I am not even arguing for gender-neutral stands, just that one needs to be accurate when speaking about this topic). here is some info from the Net, various sites have similar information which leads me to suspect that it is accurate: Due to persistently high failure rates, primarily among female trainees, the Army has decided to scrap the concept of gender-neutrality in the ACFT. Instead, exercise requirements and test scores will be gender-normed and different for men and women, with some standards lower than before. (Apr 19, 2022)
@KK-pm7udАй бұрын
Lowering standards for women vs men is just more sexism. If the most qualified woman cannot compete at a high enough level to make the cutoff, then that's the way the cookie crumbles. Shoehorning people in to meet quotas and have nice stories is dangerous at best and destructive at worst. It gets worse when they try to add additional criteria that are irrelevant to give others a higher chance of making the cutoff just for optics.

Most people that votes for Trump never heard any of her ideas or proposals. None. After the election, they ran focus groups and her policies and approach was much more popular than his and people wished they had known about them. The algorithms favored rage and fear over joy and unity. Until the Dems can figure out yo penetrate that information bubble they will really struggle.
