I caught them in two different decades. End of 1980 Back in Black tour and Thunderstuck tour in 1990. Both were great shows but the Back in Black tour was ridiculously electric. Just Bitchin. My daughter lives close to Cliff Williams and was at a restaurant and met him. She got me an autograph and she took a selfie with him. Funny thing she said nobody in the restaurant recognized him. I guess I raised my youngest one right. 😃 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

@@curtisphilumalee1447 That’s so cool you got to see them twice and your daughter got a pic/autograph with Cliff Williams, he’s a fantastic bassist! Every time I see him, he reminds me so much of my 1st serious love at age 20. He was very handsome and unfortunately, knew it. Emotionally and mentally abusive until I told him to hit the road. We have to go through some stinkers sometimes, good life’s lessons. Just checked and Cliffs height is 5’7”, he looks much taller on that stage. My ex bf was 6’1”.

What the heck is this? A podcast?! Hisss … 🐈⬛ Grrrr … 🐻 ha! I LOVE AC/DC and unfortunately never saw them live, had tickets to their show on 1/26/2009 but a huge ice storm shut down the whole state. The show went on ~ to a half filled BOK Center stadium in Tulsa, OK. I wish they’d rescheduled ~ and was SO disappointed. Pricey tickets were refunded which was very nice of the venue. Mal was my favorite member the “brains” of the band and what a fantastic rhythm maker. Bon… what a lead frontman ~ for the ages!!

Hi Mike. Your dad's car was too fine. I'm having a hard time admitting to being one of your "elders." I was just out of college when this episode aired. I did not have a chance to see AC/DC in concert. I wish I had. Since Joe mentioned it, I was remembering inexpensive ticket prices in the 70's. The first I remember, I was in junior high and I got tickets to Chicago around 1971. The tickets were $5.00, and you went to a head shop to buy them. It was called "Sgt. Pepper's Parlor." I was too young to drive, so we walked there after school. My mom would have had a fit, if she understood that "business model." Happy to hear the conversation here. I'm off to watch the Chief's game. Thanks guys.

This paints such a great picture of the times. Thanks for sharing. The ticket gimmicks now are all about which credit card you have for early access. Kids may never know all the different situations fans were put through to secure the best seats at shows.

@@janicetrimmell6897 I saw Chicago in the mid 80s when I was about 19 at the time, at the Omni in Atlanta where I saw about all of my indoor concerts. Outdoor at Chastain Park. They were memorable just for a line of like 7 guy's across the front of the stage each playing guitar and playing their songs exactly like they were performed on their albums. Extremely boring. I imagine they were very different in '71 than about 15 years later. Very curious if they experimented with their performance back then because we had heard great things but were deeply disappointed by the performance we received. Weirdly I believe it was the Counting Crows who opened and they kicked ass! I'm certain your memory of their performance is better than mine.

One host too young to have ever experienced the magic of the program when it aired and the other doesn't know "The Boomtown Rats", which is well known in the US for "I Don't Like Monday's". Reading the comment section of the videos and the memories of those (like myself) who lived and breathed the MS from the start is really the best podcast.

@@themidnightspecialtvshow - I think what the commenter is questioning is the value of a podcast where hosts speak of a program that aired before they were alive. I see a lot of comments in your weekly videos of people who enjoy sharing their memories. Many quite knowledgeable about music and the era. They would be great co-hosts. I watched the program every week throughout the original show run and pretty much have memories/know the history of most artists and that era. Perhaps inviting these people to contribute to the podcast via phone? Thanks for keeping this show alive.
@themidnightspecialtvshow20 күн бұрын
I don't know how far you got but the entire point of the podcast is to get contributions from the audience as you suggested. The entire back half is dedicated to reading memories and submissions from the listeners. We are inviting all of our fans to send us photos, stories and anything they have for us to create a time capsule of the show.

@@themidnightspecialtvshow - Reading in a video is not quite the same as a live conversation. Would love to have people who were there from the beginning to discuss the artists and performances. I saw AccaDacca first in December 1975 in a small town hall supported by a university rock band called Rock Island Line (fronted by a then long haired guy called Peter Garrett who ended up fronting a small band called Midnight Oil). I was 14 back then and it was $5 bucks of hard earned pocket money to get in (I think it was well over $100 to see them the last time I saw them in the early 90s) but that first time... was still one of the best gigs I ever went to.

Mike and Joe, I was fortunate enough to see AC/DC at The World Series of Rock in the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium (Browns and Indians played there) in July of 1979. There is a lot of footage of that AC/DC set that day on KZbin. Sadly, very little of the others that day:Journey, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent and Scorpions. , I think and a very "off' Aerosmith in the penultimate show before they broke up. . I saw a show in Cleveland in 1978 with Journey, Foreigner, ELO and a couple other bands in the Cleveland World Series of Rock. I may be confusing which band or which year, but the AC?DC footage is incredible, with Angus and Malcom and Bon Scott in top form.
