These GTO Lab podcasts are great. The questions and discussions are very interesting. I've always enjoyed listening to Ike's views on everything. Listening to him talk makes me feel a lot smarter than I actually am, and I can relate to some degree about most everything he says (even though I don't play poker after Black Friday).

As a casual/hobbyist poker player, I really appreciate the deep dive into the mental aspects of the game you guys discussed, especially Ike's point about the importance of adapting strategies to different opponents. It's easy to get caught up in playing a 'perfect' GTO (Game Theory Optimal) strategy, but the reality is that poker is about reading people and making adjustments based on their tendencies. Your discussion about the meta-game and how top players like Ike balance between GTO and exploitative strategies really resonates. It reminds me that poker is as much about psychology and adaptability as it is about the math. Great insights

re: min 53 in the podcast, andrew huberman actually brings the science to prove jaffe’s point. not to celebrate your wins as it has an effect on dopamine and widens the gap between highs and lows and will lower motivation. think its one of hubermans episodes on dopamine, motivation and/or willpower. good episode guys.

Big fan of Ike, but I do wonder whether the reason he takes losses so well could be in large part to at this point possibly being rich enough where a downswing is just a tickle. Almost anyone can handle say a few % networth loss. It's when it's 10%, 20%, 40% is when we can start talking about mental fortitude and dealing with adversity.

I'm a mechanic. I drive people's cars before and after repairs. I work with about 9 other people. I wear an n95 mask at all times when at work once i leave my car. I don't take the mask off until I'm back in my car. I don't take it off to drive other people's cars. So I'm often alone in a car with a mask on. Lol. Once it's on i don't touch it. New one every 1.5 days.
