For anyone still on the fence over who the greatest player of all time is, I would refer them to these pods. Ike is truly on a different level and has dominated every possible format at the highest stakes. Great episodes, this should not be free!

His comment on multiway preflop solutions reminded me of the 3 body problem. That as soon as you add a 3rd entity the whole thing becomes unsolvable or at least very hard to solve.

Great host with great questions. And of course Ike is a very interesting person from who one can learn a ton. He‘s thinking on such a high level and still admits to be unsure in some very frequent spots which you only encounter from the absolut best players! Thanks for the podcast looking forward to the next one…

Jonathan 2 things : Nr 1: Tell Ike his description about poker, life, winning or losing reminds me of a guy who is channeling. Just typ on KZbin : Bahar formula. He describes it very well how to think, approach about almost everything in life. Wow, one of the greatest and most thoughtful minds in poker out there today. And such a marvelous way of explaining things in plain English and expressed with a very remarkable and healthy dose of humility. 🙏 Ike, if you ever decide to produce some training content, please sign me up. ♦️

I tried to DM Ike this question on Twitter, but apparently you have to have a premium subscription in order to DM people. So, hoping Ike might see this somehow: I've heard Ike say on a couple of occasions, when discussing the state of current poker solvers, that (a) we know that for heads up NLHL, counterfactual regret minimization (CRM) trends towards an equilibrium, but (b) for multiplayer NLHL, we don't actually know whether the solutions that the solvers are outputting are correct. I'm curious what exactly he means by this? Is the problem that we can't prove that CRM trends towards an equilibrium for multiplayer NLHL? Or is it rather it doesn't make sense to use CRM for multiplayer NLHL? (and if so, why?) On a different podcast, I think I also heard Ike say that it doesn't even make sense to talk about equilibrium strategies in the context of multiplayer NLHL, but I'm curious why he thinks this too. I'm not much of an expert on game theory, but as far as I'm aware, it has been proven that there are multiplayer games for which equilibrium strategies can be devised namely using CRM. So, what makes him think that it doesn't make sense for multiplayer NLHL? Anyway, I'm genuinely curious about these questions (and in no way suggesting that Ike is wrong -- he may very well be right). I just really would like to know if someone could point me to some sources for these claims as I'd very much like to read them. Apologies for any inconvenience.

But isn't the point of making the highest EV plays to give the best chance of winning the tournament? And thus by doing that you are trying to win the tournament?
@GTOLAB
@GTOLAB Ай бұрын
That’s true for highest chip EV plays. Ike os talking about the highest $EV plays, those are often not the highest cEV plays because of ICM or bounties.

ike break on multiway action was intersting, but im not convince with his example 3handed button fold 0ev opens. if when button open 0ev hands its mess with big blind ev because he doesnt get to play in position, so who gain ev from button open? sb? maybe but it doesnt sounds right. i think its makes more sense that when button open 0ev hands it really doesnt matter to anyone because now sb will play much less hands and big blind will win the pot often against this weak hands or maybe change the ev of sb/bb just slightly in not so much obvious ways.
@102ravager
@102ravager 2 ай бұрын
BB gains EV from button open yes. This is because the btn denies the bb of a profitable sb vs bb spot.
