Great Kenny ! And thankyou for not using a multiband compressor for the mic signals but showing us the great routing possibilities in Reaper by splitting-joining instead👌🏼👍🏼Have a great day !

6:05 Turn the mic on first, only *then* click on "Automatically build noise profile" in ReaFFT. Otherwise it unnecessarily cuts frequencies that are only present when you switch it on (like the "click" noise it made in the video).

Why do you split the mic in 3 bands and don't use the multiband compressor?
@REAPERMania5 жыл бұрын
Good question. :)
@TheRheinprinz5 жыл бұрын
@@REAPERMania Perhaps you want to put reverb to the heights and distortion to the mids.:)

3:07 I'd use the samplers' *Wet* controls instead. That way, I can't accidentally turn it up over 0dB, giving me a more sensible range (esp. if I forget to put a limiter on the master track). Also, since I'd fade in the outro & like less complexity, I'd tie the control for intro & outro volume together (learn on same MIDI parameter, or FX link one to the other).

You see? This is why I love your content. I think that maybe the 3 band splitter maybe some sort of "unnecessary" extra step (as many plugins are now available to accomplish the same or maybe even better results). But these solution may offer a chance to those who want to keep it simple and use only resources already available in Reaper. Also, I think this may comes handy whenever you are in a rush, and realize the audio was a little "pitchy" when recording impromptu and need to split the frequencies to deal with the trouble maker on the spot.

Could the compression be done with the multi band compressor? That looks easier than using the 3 band split so is there a determent to doing that?

Thanks for the video, Kenny. I did the same as you in Reasamplomatic, with Note start and Note end on C2, yet I seem to trigger the sample file over and over again instead of turning it off again. What am I doing wrong??

Can someone please explain who to have the background music get quieter, but not completely go away, when the voice comes in? I feel like this is probably fairly simple, but I can't find any videos explaining that

Hi Kenny, informative as ever. I'm having a problem in that, even though I set "note end" to the same note number as "note start" the intro just keeps playing and will play additional starts if I try and trigger off. Same if I make "note end" a different note number. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

How do I make sure my second microphone and first microphone aren't recording only on one track. I've followed everything you said exactly including the input positions but when we both speak it only goes to one track. He doesn't have his own

Is there a way to set up a Reaper track as in input from Skype or Google Hangouts, if one is interviewing somebody online through one of those two apps?
@The-Bloke4 жыл бұрын
If you're on Mac, use Soundflower (free, basic) or Loopback (expensive, advanced). Kenny did a video about using Soundflower for recording in Reaper. On Windows, I believe Reaper comes with free software called ReaRoute which can do this by creating a virtual ASIO soundcard. There's a chapter about it in the Reaper manual. Windows also has Virtual Audio Stream by DDMF (not free, but affordable) which may do the same job. And I think I've seen other audio routing apps in Windows as well.

Using this setup, 4 mics for talent in studio... Is there a way to put another channel in for a guest on skype? So it will record that audio right into a channel on Reaper? If not skype any recommendations what to use or how to set up a remote guest for podcast to record the audio in Reaper?

I create a podcast, but I start with an audio file that came from my phone, so I can’t do some of the techniques that Kenny used here, such as listen to what the mic is hearing live, and use that as a baseline. Any tips for me?

Record some silence for the noise reduction, just hit play while it configures to the input. The rest you can do exactly the same as the video

Hey Kenny.... you rock as usual!! Question if I may. Do you have any suggestions on how to play/ record sound effects from your system audio while you are recording, say for a podcast. The SFX are nothing too crazy, just a collection of cheesy MP3's and WAV's. Love to hear your thoughts.

On Mac, to use Soundflower (free, basic) or Loopback (expensive, advanced) to capture system audio, then route it to Reaper. Kenny did a video on using Soundflower for this purpose. On Windows there's ReaRoute which comes with Reaper and I believe does the same job - it has a chapter in the Reaper manual you can check out. For Windows there's also Virtual Audio Stream by DDMF which may do the same job.

i dont get this, this whole band splitting seems so impractical, why not just use mbc? especially in context of podcasts or speech recording, most people use reaplugs in obs, and im pretty sure you cannot do routing in obs, so who this video is aimed for exactly? dont get me wrong, i like kenny gioia vids, but this vid just seems out of place and odd
