PodMic Vs PD-70 Vs ZDM-1 - Podcast Mic Shootout

Røde to me sounds the cleanest, but I am biased. I have the Podmic and it’s great. Lacks bottom end but clarity is right up there with my MKH416. Incredible value and build. I used the WS2 windshield which takes the high-end off and makes it sound a little smoother. Add a little bottom end in EQ and compression and it’s right there with my Sennheiser. Can’t speak enough on its quality and value.

Nice video and suddenly you had me ordering the Zoom. Also it just went on sale for $50 u.s. - so in a few days I will add it to my stash with the personus pd 70 and podmic.

I just got the Podmic and I think it is good with an microphone lifter but not without it. Also I have the zoom and don’t really need a mic lifter.

I had the Podmic but it would pick up so much background noise that I couldn’t handle it! I spent 4 month looking for the Podmic, only to buy the PD-70 after watching 2 comparison videos. It was quieter and sounded more radio like! Both great microphones, but different strokes for different folks. Podmic looks cool but the Pd70 had a cooler look since it almost looks like the SM7B 😂😅

ZDM-1 beats the Podmic. I own both, and for my voice, the ZDM-1 just sounds more rich.

This is a real good review. With the Dynamite you're essentially listening to the sound through its preamp, so sound profile is different. Using a good quality audio interface (audio interfaces also produce different sound profiles) with great preamp could be better over using an inline mic preamp such as Dynamite. Imo, ZDM-1 clearly has better sound than PD-70 and PodMic, especially when used without the Dynamite. As for build quality, I wish ZDM-1 was made like a tank like PodMic, even though I like the solid black color of ZDM-1 better, as it doesn't bring attention to the mic. Thanks for the review.

good evening, I would like to ask if the zoom zdm-1 does not have any filling inside, such as an internal pop filter, if I take it apart and insert the internal pop filter from another similar microphone, would it help? to eliminate the floating tones and make a tuning video and subject it to sound testing, thank you very much

Well if you know what your doing yes but why do that, When you can get a windscreen like foam thing speaking of that the mic comes with one. All the stuff in the video the mic comes with foam windscreen mic stand mount but you can use a Rycote adjustable schock mount and you will be fine but expensive but gets the job done I have not found a shock mount for this other than adjustable. Use the Rodes PS1A mic boom arm I believe.

I seen reviews of people saying this mic beats the RE20, So go figure to each there own i guess all mics are good. Plus if I am gonna drop money on a mic it will be a Rodes Procaster or Equivalent never tried the SMB but from reading reviews this mic is beating the MV7. Well if sound is what your going for, Zoom is where its at RE20 for me is too Nasally there is better mics from ElectroVoice but we talking moolah money dough cash. Any mic I use that has to be major processed i mean heavy is garbage, Rodes and Zoom are pretty good not much processing I imagine the same with top end Electrovoice I also like Lewiit but they are condensers.
