I love these style videos as someone who has never played POE before. I did have a question though, how do you know if a modifier is a prefix or suffix? I still just don't understand that, like how did you know max life is a prefix and not a suffix? is there a list or something? Thanks again!

Great question, there will definitely be lists compiled once the game is out on 6 Dec. In game as well, you can press alt to see which mods are prefixes and suffixes!

That is what I hope most. Crafting in PoE1 was a rich man's game, which is very sad. The problem was that the same items to craft were used from level 1 to level 100 - that means the drop rate had to be balanced around level 100s farming them. From what I understand in PoE2, the base items are now level gated, such that level 100s will be farming level 100 base items and then crafting on that. With no Scours you don't get to reuse the base. That means those base items can be made very rare and balance endgame crafting, instead of making the level 1 crafting stuff very rare. I hoping crafting will now be something everyone gets to meaningfully participate in, like Last Epoch. Super rare valuable crafted gear should also exist, naturally. Maybe GGG has cracked it this time.

@@aimerw It will still be a rich man's game at the high end, that's basic common sense.

@@c-tothefourth4879 Yeah, definitely. That is fine, good even.
@arcadebit15515 күн бұрын
@@c-tothefourth4879 But the point of entry will be better. I don't need to craft mirror tier items. That is what omens and scours are probally for at the endgame. For me it is already a huge plus to use Exalts to get a boost here and there. The current system in PoE is just grind currency and trade stuff, which isn't actually very fun or exciting.

Im also a new player, nice video, very informative. it was unclear for me though if the socket will take a slot from affix/suffix or if you can still have 6 and a socket??
@Sheepishly1234 күн бұрын
I was perhaps not too clear on that. Sockets are be on top of the 6 mods. So an end game body armour, for example, will have 6 explicit mods plus 2 sockets that you can put runes into (effectively making it a pesudo 8 mod item!!).
@incendio65484 күн бұрын
@@Sheepishly123 as a new player, should I avoid socketing any Runes until end game? I noticed the line that said they cannot be removed.....so I would be worried that socketing a low level rune would prevent me from putting a better rune there at end game.
@Sheepishly1234 күн бұрын
@incendio6548 I think it's fine to just socket the runes as you find them. Late game you will find better items anyways
@c-tothefourth48793 күн бұрын
@@incendio6548 No because in end game you will have a new piece of gear entirely.

Hey :-) New player here. This was really helpful. Are you planning on making a tutorial on which (how many) stash tabs to buy and how to decide what to keep/sell/salvage? Also... Item level, is it a thing?
@Sheepishly1234 күн бұрын
Item level should be a thing (believe a carry over from POE 1). I think currency stash tab is generally the most recommended one, followed by fragment tabs so I would start with those. But do wait for a sale b4 buying! Salvage wise - I think early game you should probably salvage just to build up some basic crafting currency. We will have to see about the late game if salvage is better (I suspect gold will be more important later on)

Is there (1) any way to remove a socketed Rune or (2) place another Rune over an existing socketed Rune?
@Sheepishly1234 күн бұрын
According to a recent interview GGG gave apparently not. Tho I suspect we will eventually be able to remove the rune but destroying it in the process. Perhaps as a future QOL update

I am seeing a significant loss of determinism for crafting high level items, especially if there is the same large pool of tiers for each explicit. The loss of the crafting bench in particular removes the ability to block certain mods from the pool while using currency to add modifiers.

It was to convoluted. You needed currency, essences, Beast crafting, Bench Crafting, Harvest crafting etc.. It has grown to an absurd amount over the time and a lot was kinda "hidden" to new players. Even players like Empyrian, with thousands of hours playtime, needed help to craft efficient and still needed several hours to craft one Item.
@titanicjack67445 күн бұрын
@@G00R00it absolutely had to be simplified. I agree it may be oversimplified now but the good news is that they can add to it over time with what they have learned from POE1.
@reznovvazileski31935 күн бұрын
This is just the knowledge we have right now from a pre-release version of the game, the most barebones crafting in poe2 will ever be. From here they can rebuild complexity into endgame crafting without the need for 2400 rerolls on an item to even get started crafting. I mean I hope they will iterate on it in the future, but since crafting in PoE got as mad as it is because they tend to do exactly that, I'm positive about them starting out with a rather clean slate. If you start at the level of a 10 years in development game you have 0 design space left to improve upon it over the next 10 years so then why did you just make an entire new game to do exactly that?
